Ibiza to Formentera Ferry

The Ibiza Formentera ferry crossing connects two of the most popular tourist destinations in the Balearic Islands and is widely available all year round for booking. There are currently 4 ferry operators that serve this route from Ibiza to Formentera. Trasmapi provide up to 4 weekly sailings, Balearia provide 1 weekly sailing, Aquabus provide 1 weekly sailing and Mediterranea Pitiusa provide 2 weekly sailings. The distance between the Ibiza port and the Formentera port is approximately 10 nautical miles (19km) overall, with Mediterranea Pitiusa offering the fastest crossing time in just 25 minutes.

Getting to the Ibiza ferry port is very straightforward since it’s located in the heart of the old town. You can book a private transfer service from nearly anywhere on the island for a reasonable fare. However, these can get incredibly busy during the high season, so we strongly recommend that you book in advance. For those who are driving, the port is accessible by following the C731. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to visit our accommodation page for all the best prices on hotels.

Please keep in mind that Aquabus and Mediterranea Pitiusa only allow foot passengers onboard their service from Ibiza to Formentera. Therefore, we suggest booking with Trasmapi or Balearia if you wish to bring your own vehicle.

If you are looking to take your car or motorbike to Formentera between 15th June and 15th September, you must first request permission from the Insular Council online.

Ibiza Formentera Ferry reviews

  • "Choppy ride to Ibiza"

Despite the increased wind the Mediterrània Pitiusa ferry left promptly from La Savina and arrived safely and only marginally late to Ibiza.

  • "Efficient service"

I have twice travelled with Balearia from Ibiza to Formentera. Once in 2015, and again this week. Each time was good service, and efficient. The only thing I would say is that we took the early morning crossing and there was nothing simple to eat for breakfast on board. We had a coffee, but some fresh croissant or something simple would have made a big difference. Chose Balearia for the crossing times / duration vs price and was not disappointed.

  • "Nice easy crossing "

I normally go via the tourist boat from Cala Llonga but this was a much better, quicker and cheaper crossing. Boats were good and staff friendly.
