"Best Ferry Service in Europe"
I have spent alot of time travelling Europe during 2022 and have used the Ferry's to Island Hop through Greece and now Spain. My experience from Denia to Formentera was outstanding the process was simple and professional (no running with masses of people with luggage) The seating was comfortable, quite and clean despite not speaking Spanish the staff onboard were really helpful with keeping us informed. 10/10 Service would travel this way again. :)
"Comfortable but 1.5hr delay"
The ferry was supposed to depart at noon. Only shortly before departure, boarding started. We left 40min late. The total duration was supposed to take 2hrs but we arrived 1hr and almost 30minutes later. Seats were comfortable.
"Definite room for improvement! "
60 minute check-in for foot passengers seems rather excessive, especially as this was not an international journey. The journey time was almost double the 75 minutes advertised but this was not announced or explained ( unless this was the one announcementn not given in English); I'm guessing it was because of the weather conditions but we were not told. The bus which was supposed to connect with the town centre had already left by the time I got to the exit. (It was a VERY long walk from boat to exit, and I was given no help despite walking with a crutch. Odd that a video of the Verdi Requiem was being shown only in the children's play area! The rest of us had The Jungle Book: maybe somebody got confused!
"Expensive day trip"
Boat on time Clean Staff friendly Confusion at formentera over which boat it was Food options poor No I quiet area Very expensive
"Another good trip with Balearia"
The ferry was bang on time both ways. Friendly staff on a clean ship.
"Poor Communication "
Boat on the way out was good and knew it would be a long trip 3.5hrs. On the way back we booked the fast ferry 2.0hrs however when we got to the port we were informed that the boat had been cancelled by 1.5hrs and it was not the fast ferry, so overall we had to add 3.5hrs to our journey. The biggest disappointment of all we did not receive any communication informing us of the change
"Denia to Formentera and return."
A comfortable experience. We travelled standard class but there is an option to upgrade. Only one word of caution, we arrived back to Denia at 11:30 pm expecting to find a taxi outside. Seemingly it is too early in the season for this to be guaranteed. Not speaking Spanish trying to order one was tricky. Our thanks to a helpful stranger.
"Ferry cancelled twice without correct information"
To go from Mallorca to Menorca the boat was cancelled twice. Only the first time I was informed by phone; the second time I haven't been informed. We had to make extra costs (an extra night in a hotel) and our holiday in Menorca has been delayed.
"Denia to Formentera "
I could not fault the service in any way. I took my car and the loading on and off was done really quickly the ferry left right on time and the facilities on board were good. Next time I'll go as a foot passenger and hire a car or bike as taking a car across is very pricey
"The out of date boat "
Fast Ferry i would say slow ferry. Said 1.15 crossing more like 1.45 to 2 hour crossing. Old boat and one was not allowed on deck while crossing because not enough staff. From that experience I will try next time the trans med Katamaran boat.
"Easy crossing"
The ferry crossing left sharp on outward and inward journeys, a few minutes early to be precise. The crossing was smooth. The ferry was clean and had catering services and a shop on board. Plenty of choice for food and drink which was prepared and served well. We were satisfied with the catering. The seating was comfortable and the film that played was just the right length for the crossing. My husband was not near enough the screen to watch, so if interested choose seats carefully. The return trip was quiet and we were not allowed to sit upstairs which we had looked forward to for the view as upstairs was full up on the trip over which was the only disappointment. Embarking and disembarking was efficient and luggage even on the full trip over was stowed and easy to retrieve. Toilets were clean.
"Very good ferry service."
This ferry route was the perfect option for us as we wanted to drive to Spain from the UK over a few days, then cross over to Ibiza for 10 days. The boats are in good condition and both crossings were punctual. We chose the Neptune lounge as an upgrade for seating which was very worthwhile given the reclining chairs. All in all, a very good experience.
"Trip to Formntera"
Excellent trip Fast and on time . Friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone.
"Denia to Ibiza"
No problems with this ferry. Left port on time and arrived on time. Comfortable seating.
"Friendly Staff and Good Ship"
Very welcoming staff on a clean ship. Recommended.
"Good service"
The ferry was clean and well maintained, and the crew were very polite and helpful. Not much of a difference between first class cabin and standard though.
"Ferry Trip from Denia to Ibiza and back"
We have travelled on the ferry on several occasion from Denia to Ibiza and back. We had an excellent crossing. The Ferry was clean and all of the Staff were very friendly. The food selection on board was good. There was a film to watch and on the return journey, as it was close to Christmas there was a magician and a Father Christmas. The boarding of our Car was good. We were very happy with the Ferry and will re-book again in 2016
"Good journey with children and car"
All went fairly smoothly. Minor issues managing children as passengers needed to board separately to car & driver, but wasn't too difficult and all other aspects of the journey were well managed and pleasant.
"Denia to Formentera"
It was very easy to book this trip with direct ferries. The ferry was on time and the trip was comfortable. The only criticism I have was the air conditioning on the return journey made the temperature very cold on the ferry. Will definitely use direct ferries again.
"Denia-Formentera "
Really comfortable from Denia to Formentera and return same day with the fast ferries of Balearia
"Formentera trip"
Both journeys were on time. I think the fares are too high considering the crossing duration. Comparing this service with the ferry to Sardinia, that offers more comfort, the prices are more than double. Unfortunately, if you wish to travel with your car to Formentera, there are no alternatives.
"Denja Ibiza"
Comfortable seats, nice trip. Slept the whole way.
"1st visit to Ibiza in 20 years!"
All good - except the fact that only one person is allowed in the car when boarding. Have travelled on many ferries and this is the first time it has happened. Otherwise, as I said all good. Will be doing it again, as our son is now living in Ibiza. Kind regards Wendy
"Ferry to Ibiza"
The trip went well.
"Crossing Ibiza-Palma"
Excellent trip.
"Traveling with Balearia"
We had a nice trip even though the weather was quite windy which made the ride a little difficult fir the ones with sensitive stomach. However, the staff did their jib well and took care over the people thatneeded their help.
"return trip Denia-Formentera"
On time, friendly staff, comfortable
"travel from denia to formentera"
a very comfortable travel, fast and well organized ferry , it was a shame the low quality of the service.
"Trip to Ibiza"
Good prices, comfortable.
"DENIA-FORMENTERA JUNE 2014"
very competent and agreeable crew. In the trip of return of 21-24h it was exceeding the functioning of the television since there are no individual earphones.
"A GREAT SERVICE "
A GREAT SERVICE, A CHEAPER PRICE THAN WHEN BOOKING DIRECTLY WITH BALEARIA, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LOADING OF THE TRAILER, BUT IT WAS RESOLVED VERY WELL WITH THE SPANISH COMPANY “BALEARIA” WHICH MODIFIED THE CROSSING WITH ANY ADDITIONAL FEE. I REALLY RECOMMEND DIRECTFERRIES.IT
"Very efficient but ..."
On a recent trip to Ibiza I couldn't get any direct flights later than 6:15am. I don't do early morning flights but discovered that I could get a 10:15 flight to Palma and then take a ferry from there to Ibiza. This looked like a perfect solution, as I love being on ships and a three hour sail across the sunny Med sounded just the ticket. The booking with Direct Ferries was simple and efficient, and I had plenty of time to get to the ferry terminal from Palma airport. It was a glorious, sunny day and I was really looking forward to the trip. But my salty old mariner's heat sank when I saw the ferry moored up - it looked to be entirely enclosed. As I walked along the side to the boarding point this suspicion became a virtual certainty. So as soon as I arrived on board I immediately looked for an exit to the deck. There were none in the main part of the ship, but to my huge relief I noticed there was an exit to the stern out of the bar. I was therefore happy again as I stood looking over the side of the ship with a few fellow fresh air enthusiasts (or more likely smokers!)supping my can of Mahou. The engines roared, the ferry started to move - and then one of the crew politely instructed us all to go back inside! We trooped glumly back in, and any hope of a sneaky escape ended when said crew member fastened the exit door with a lock like something out of Fort Knox. I spent the rest of the trip sadly peering out at the beautiful scenery. To be fair, the trip itself was fine. The ferry left and arrived on time, the crew were pleasant, the ship was comfortable and the whole experience really couldn't be faulted as a `transportation experience'. And I've no doubt most of the people on board had no desire at all to leave the interior and were more than happy to be isolated from the great outdoors. But for someone like me who loves being out on the deck of a boat it was a huge disappointment, and I won't be making the same mistake again. So although I've ticked the box to say I'd recommend this ship to a friend I'd add the important caveat - "but only if you don't enjoy being out on the deck".
"Crossing"
We were unable to go to Ibiza due to a death. During a phone call with Directferries we were told that they couldn't do anything for us. If only they had offered a small compensation. I think this is very bad and will never book with this company again.
"Algeciras to Ceuta return"
We were on our way to Morocco. I would recommend going to Tanger to enter Morocco. It took 90 minutes to cross the border going to Morocco but less than 30 minutes coming back. I found the Algeciras terminal confusing to get to and a long walk from the parking garage. We left our car in the garage which is clean and safe although expensive. It may be better going to Tanger from Tarifa although I have no experience there.
