Launched in 2009, the Martin i Soler is part of the Balearia+ series meaning it's faster, much greener and more luxurious than a conventional ship. Onboard this modern ship you'll find a bar, cafeteria, self service restaurant, a choice of cabins, comfortable seating lounges, children’s play area, luggage lockers, a solarium, swimming pool, games room and a shop.
The Martin i Soler features numerous 4 berth air conditioned en-suite cabins with 2 seat table and wardrobe, 2 double cabins adapted for passengers with reduced mobility and 4 luxury suites with 2 king size beds. All cabins are modern with a minimalistic interior design. This ship also has a 'Neptune' Lounge which is a pre-reserved spacious seating area featuring fully reclining black leather seats and electrical sockets.
The Martín i Soler has several bar and restaurant facilities including a self-service restaurant with something to suit all tastes as well as a Pizzeria. The restaurant offers a children’s menu and low-calorie options. In the summer months there is ice-cream café during the day and chill out bar in the evening.
In the onboard shop you can buy cosmetics, perfumes, chocolates, sweets, clothing, gifts, travel essentials and more.
On the decks there are deckchairs and benches where you can relax and enjoy the crossing as well as a swimming pool with outdoor bar and several relaxation areas. The Martín i Soler also features permanent mobile phone coverage through the SEANET network which provides international satellite coverage (calls carry a surcharge which varies depending on the operator). Wi-Fi is available for a small fee during the crossing too.
Children will not get board during their crossing on the Martín i Soler. There's a dedicated play area for young children and a games room for the older children.
Baleària’s staff members, both on board and on land, are available to assist passengers with reduced mobility however it is advised to mention if assistance is required both when making the reservation and when checking in. There are also lifts connecting all the passenger decks.

"Worst trip from Ibiza to Barcelona ever"
Spent whole life on and off ferries so know what to expect. Price for day cabin at port €100…no time to decide…price onboard €210. Had to beg staff to fill swimming pool. Wi-Fi was very hard to login to and not free. Request to visit bridge turned down (yes I love ferry boats) but the worst thing was keeping foot passengers trapped for 35 minutes after docking and being forced onto a bus to be taken out of port area. Never had this before, ever - and resulted in arriving at BCN airport after gate closed. Absolutely furious and Balearia are going to get biggest compensation claim they’ve ever seen. Suggest go Grand Navi Veloci or Transmed instead.
"Easy to book with direct ferries "
Easy way to get from Majorca to Spain to drive back to uk
"Not a great experience."
Boarding process seemed quite shambolic. Ended up facing wrong way for off loading on crowded lower deck whilst rest of vessel almost empty. Left almost an hour laste with no reason given. Bumpy crossing and arrived over an hour late in Alcudia. Was asked to reverse a £200K car (with limited rear vision) up a very narrow ramp to off load. Refused and turned car much to staff disgust. Very old ship. Toilets dirty and smelly. LAck of any information or updates on trip.
"Great and comfortable"
took this as an affordable option. We upgraded to first class which was only 3 euros and it was very comfy.
"Ship barcelona to Ibiza"
Highly recommended 👌
"Perfectly on time and efficient"
Great
"Good experience. "
I have travelled a number of times from Barcelona to Ibiza and back. The facilities have improved over the years and appear to be improving all the time.
"Ibiza to Barcelona "
Bad experience, paid for WiFi to do my work and it didn’t work. Staff refused to refund me, ship was dirty and don’t bother upgrading to better seats as half of them don’t recline and are dirty.
"GREAT"
Great crossing ...paella was good ..Sears comftable
"Barcelona to Alcudia return"
Our trip from Barcelona involvedan 8.5 hr delay just for us as they sent our car to the wrong deck and we couldn’t get off at our destination but had to stay on to Menorca and then return to Alcudia. Staff very apologetic and pleasant. Our return trip arrived 1.5 hrs late due to port problems in Barcelona. Otherwisdd we clean comfortable ship and crossings.
"Deadfuk experience with Baleria ferries"
We were one of the first to arrive. However, all cars arriving after us were boarded first. When we were finally boarded - there was not enough space so they parked the cars four abreast instead of three. This meant that we could not get out of our vehcile - but the staff did not seem to care. We lterally had to climb out the windows. Passengers trying to access the deck could not get past our car - literally had to squeeze past - our car has several deep scratches as a result. When we finally made it on deck and to reception - the Neptune lounge with sleeping seats was full - and even though this is what we had paid for - the staff could only apologise and our reservation could not be honored. There was a complete disrgard for health and safety and passenger dignity with regards to the parking.
"We could not travel and didn't get an answer for your mail-request"
Because of the covid virus we were not allowed to travel to spain an do take the ferrie. We have tried to cancel the booking, because no body comming form germany was able to take the ship. Till today there was no response to your twice mail-request to Direct Ferries. This is not ok. Is there any possibility to get the money for the trip back? Its not your fault, that we could not go the ship. This is a very special situation in Europe at the moment an I hope your company is handling this in a customer-friendly way. I hope to here very soon from you.
"Boat Trip"
Balearia very helpful in changing date of crossing due to Spanish government closing down Catalonia due to Coronavirus. Also did not charge extra
"Neptune Lounge"
We are regular travelers on the Ciutadella to Barcelona ferry, as usual we booked the Neptune lounge for the extra legroom and bigger seats for the 9 hour journey. The TV was put on to show the safety warning, and we expected after the last couple of trips for it to be switched to show the ships journey, or switched off, what we did not expect was for a DVD to be played, fine, the volume was OK, but part way through the journey the sound was turned up to an extreme level, when i asked to have it turned down to an acceptable level, i was told by a member of staff from reception, to tell the other person in the lounge i wanted it lowered. it was like the Spanish staff favored the Spanish clients speakers on the ferry. We asked again to have the volume turned down, once the majority of the people had left the ship, but our request was ignored, we don't normally have a problem on the crossing, but i can only assume due to the previous days ship being cancelled due to weather, this crossing was over subscribed. All in all a good crossing apart from the minor TV problem.
"Stolen coat "
Wife left coat in restaurant on back of chair. Went back,,, it was gone. Not handed in. I hope whoever took it needs it more than my wife does. Karma will do the rest.
"It was ok"
My crossing was fine, but I do not like to have to put my dog in a cage during the crossing. Other lines are dog friendly why can you not be as well?
"End of September travel"
I paid for recliner seats...a number of them didn’t work. I would recommend fixing or indicate with signage they are broken. Two of the ladies washroom facilities were out of order. Staff were courteous.i didn’t eat on board but was happy to see there were vegan and vegetarian options.
"Poor service "
Very poor with aggressive crew. I will never use Balearia again and I will not recommend it to anyone
"Trip to Alcúdia "
Very pleasant trip, easy access via escalator, space available for luggage, opportunity to use the outdoor space on Martin i Soler & relax.
"Ferry away"
It was a pleasant trip from Ciutadella to Barcelona on the ferry. I enjoyed being able to walk around inside and outside. It was very clean and well maintained and the staff was friendly.
"Excellent "
Really good trip. We were travelling with two bike boxes but the staff were excellent and helped us board and disembark easily. Food was good and great value for money. Definitely recommend it between Alcúdia and Barcelona. We booked a seat in the Neptune lounge which was so comfortable and spacious. Well worth the cost.
"Trip Ciutadella Alcudia "
Nice trip
"Watch out if travelling by van!"
Sailed from Barcelona to Menorca. Martin I Soller boat is old and dark. Feels very dated. Only was able to buy food and drink by card whilst the ship was in port. After that they have no ways of charging. This is 2018! Got a cabin which was hideously hot. It was small and tidy enough but was so hot it was totally unbearable. Would have been better to stay in a seat. I had a friend drive down to Menorca in a van to bring me a kitchen and a few other bits in my house. At BCN Balearia staff asked to look in the van which of course was fine to do, but then they said there was too much stuff in it and that one was only allowed a couple of suitcases per person and refused boarding unless he paid €400 in cash! They said it was cargo therefore had to pay a surcharge. WHAT??? It's a van! Of course it may be full! Total rip off- I can just about understand there may be charge for commercial goods to sell on, but this was my personal stuff. I am going to complain formally to them this week.
"no cabins again!"
Every time we travel on this vessel there are no cabins!!!!!! - the First class seats are uncomfortable and lights switching on & off and announcements disturb what little sleep one can get. We shall use Transmed in future
"Barcelona to palma"
The quality of the ship is v old and the cabins are well past their best.... ... toilet roll holder handing off , shower head wouldn’t stay up.... and more
"Great"
It was a nice change for us moving from one island to the other instead of through airports. Nice seating and had a cafe open which was not to expensive. The ride also was smooth with great views
"Luxury!"
Like a mini holiday. Lots of seating/sunbathing options Swimming pool good restaurant etc.
" Ciutadella to Barcelona "
Generally ok but very stressful parking my car with very tight access and limited space guided by staff not speaking English. Also I don’t understand why my wife was made to get out of our car and walk on board while I drove the car on. It would have been so much easier if she was allowed to remain in the car.
"My First Sailing with Balearia"
Having boarded the ship, there was no English speaking personnel to be found and the announcements were in Spanish and indecipherable English. Many of the doors were padlocked and during the voyage some of the ones that were open onto the outside decks had been locked. When I asked about this, I was told it was for door repairs, none of which happened during the voyage. This constitutes a risk to life in the event of an emergency, especially if there are English passengers who can’t understand the announcements. This is a disaster waiting to happen.l
"Alcudia to barcelona"
Really great service perfect if ypu dont like flying
"Dire, Simply Dire "
What can I say good about this crossing? Possibly the only thing is the speed of the disembarkation. I'll start the negative stuff at home. The ticket was booked through direct ferries and wasn't cheap. I paid for a larger cabin with the expectation that it would be A) Outside B) Nice, I'll come to those once we've boarded the vessel. I received confirmation from Direct Ferries and shortly before the journey I had an email advising me that I could save time by checking in online. Balaeria on the other hand said no, I must go to the check in desk. "Which desk" I asked them (two are listed for Barcelona), "I don't know, I'm in Denia" was the unhelpful reply. Oh well, Google earth found me one place which happened to be the right one.......Google clearly knows more than Balearia staff. Let's move to the port now. I managed to find some parking (a huge underground car-park right by the check in desk) and I went in and checked in. The lady said, park at Teminal C after 7pm. OK, I turned up at terminal C at 7pm only to find it had been moved to Termianl B,not a major issue as they are close by. We then waited, and waited, and waited. Then at the last possible moment we were taken in convoy to a completely different dock about 2 miles away. It was farcical. Are you still with me on this horror story? Well, let's move onto the ship. We were parked up and made our way to the reception. Now, I use ferries quite a lot and I'm used to helpful staff in clean uniforms. Not here. Greeted by a guy who simply pointed to reception. You see, although you've already checked in you've not been allocated your room or it's key, unlike Stena or Brittany Ferries. So, another queue now at 23:00 this time for a rather unhelpful lady who clearly didn't want to be there and was making that fact rather obvious. The key was duly handed over and I made my way to the room, expecting something clean, tidy with a window. What I found was a dirty cabin, peeling paint on walls in corridors and an inside cabin which frankly, I was loathe to sleep in. Oh, and no air conditioning as it was broken on a warm night on the med, lovely! No bar, no food, nothing to eat or drink anywhere. Just a single bottle of water in a 4 berth cabin left on the side! I slept fitfully in my clothes on the top of the bed. At 5:45am someone walked up and down the corridor tapping on the doors giving us a rather rude awakening. Now, this part isn't the fault of the staff, but my wife left her Google Tablet either in the room or on a table while we were waiting to disembark. We didn't find out until later and contacted Balaeria straight away using their web contact form. I still have not heard a peep from them. Yet a member of staff will have found it in the room if it was there and almost certainly a member of staff will have found it on a table! Sorry for the long and often rambling review. But I want other travellers to be fully aware of what they're paying for if they use this crossing. Rich
"Ferry trip lovely..."
Be warned there is along walk from the ferry building to the ferry itself especially with luggage! But the crossing itself is really nice and tales lessthan two hours in good weather. The cafe was pretty small with not much choice, the larger one upstairs was closed as there were not that many passengers. In summer I guess it would be better stocked but people in the know had taken picnics with them. A different way to island hop and fun if you have plenty of time.
"Ferry trip Barcelona to alcudia"
Lovely smooth sailing for the night ferry, nice and comfortable first class leather seating. Unfortunately only one sailing a day that takes 6 hours at night arriving at 4 am, and the restaurant below , is not separated from the first class sleeping seats, so noise can be heard from restaurant and adults with children should have a separate area, as we had babies crying incessantly throughout the journey.
"Never again"
This was the worst experience ever. the escalator stopped as I was boarding the ship and I fell down. Blood and cuts everywhere. Terrible emergency care but Even worse the crew was so worried about insurance and that I would sue that they lied on the incident report and said I wasn’t holding on to the escalator handles. Like a woman who gets raped because she is wearing a short skirt. When I got to Barcelona I asked for a refund for my return trip (Which I did NOT take) and was told I had to go to doctor to get a report before I could get a ticket refund. Total bull as though the blood on the escalator and all over me wasn’t enough. I flew home from Barcelona in total disgust. I will never use your ferry service again, and you owe me a refund for my return trip. Find your integrity. Stop being so worried about being sued for your faulty escalator and treat a passenger with respect.
"just another ferry"
