Thira (Santorini) to Naxos Ferry

The Thira Naxos ferry crossing connects two of the most visited holiday destinations in the Cyclades Islands and is available all year round for booking. There are currently 3 ferry companies operating this service from Santorini to Naxos. Blue Star Ferries provide 1 weekly departure, SeaJets provide 2 weekly departures and Minoan Lines also 1 weekly departure, but only when the tourist season gets underway. The distance between the Thira port and the Naxos port is about 43 nautical miles (80km), with SeaJets offering the fastest ferry time in just 1 hour and 10 minutes. This short duration makes it a perfect day trip for tourists exploring the Cyclades Islands.

More commonly known as Athinios, the Thira ferry port is situated on the southwest coast of Santorini and can be reached by taxi and public transport. You can book a private transfer service from anywhere on the island with Welcome Pickups. However, this can get very busy during the high season. Alternatively, the public bus service departs every day from the town of Fira and operates in accordance with the ferry timetables.

All 3 operators welcome foot passengers and cars onboard their Santorini to Naxos ferry service. Please be mindful that only 1 vehicle is allowed per booking due to limited garage space.

Thira Naxos Ferry reviews

  • "Ferry crossing Kos to Santorini "

Although the departure was delayed the vessel itself and the actual crossing was an absolute pleasure. The only negative was that there was no where to store our luggage at the terminal in Kos during the day. We arrived on Kos (from Bodrum) at 9am and left at 8pm and were stuck with our luggage for the entire time on Kos.
