Donoussa Naxos Ferry reviews

  • "Oops! You left us all behind in Paros!!"

We queued in the correct ‘pens’ in Paros, our ferry arrived….but no-one opened our gates 3&4 where we were waiting, and the ferry left without us. Luckily for us, there was another of your ferries 1/2 hr later, and we all got on that! It was traumatic to see our ferry depart without us.

  • "Super traversée !"

Pour un prix plus que raisonnable dans la section économique, et si vous arrivez tôt, vous aurez un siège très confortable à l'intérieur du bateau. Et le café du comptoir restaurant est délicieux !

Donoussa Guide

Forming one of the Cyclades group of islands, the Greek island of Donoussa is roughly 16 km to the east of the island of Naxos and 25 km to the north of the island of Amorgos. Donoussa is quite a small island measuring around 14 sq. km, with its highest point 385 m above sea level. Due to its small size, the island has remained a virgin place for summer holidays, with few tourist facilities and much privacy. The island's main town is also called Donoussa.

Many visitors to the island while away the hours by swimming in the warm, crystal clear waters off the island's beaches. Most of the beaches are not organised and are mostly accessible on foot. For the more energetic visitor, the island is an ideal destination for trekking.

Donoussa can be reached by ferry from Piraeus or with local boat from Naxos and Amorgos. The small ferryboat Express Skopelitis works the route between Naxos, Iraklia, Schinoussa, Koufonissi, Donoussa and Amorgos three to five days a week during the summer months.

Naxos Guide

Naxos is a Greek island that lies in the Aegean Sea and is part of the Cyclades group of islands. The island has a rich and interesting history and has been ruled by a number of different civilisations during its history, including the Byzantine, Frankish and Venetians, all of which have left their mark on the island. The island has a flourishing agricultural economy thanks to its fertile terrain and visitors will see both olives and grapes being grown.

Popular attractions on the island, aside from its lovely beaches, tend to focus around Hora and include the Venetian Castle. Also popular with visitors are the island's villages, with one of the largest being Filoti which is situated next to Mount Zeus and Apiranthos which is next to Mount Fanari. Another popular way to spend time on the island is to take to one of the many trails on the island and to go hiking into the mountains.

The island's port is also located in Chora. From the port ferries depart to Piraeus (Athens) and to the other islands in the Cyclades.
