Dikili Port is part of a coastal town on the east coast of Turkey, forming part of the Izmir province, one of Turkey’s most upper class regions. It is a picturesque town, with long, stunning beaches along the shore and quaint buildings and cafes inland. Added to the quintessential holiday surroundings, the green hills and thermal hot springs make it a highly desired destination. The only ferry route out of Dikili Port is to Mitilini Port, the central port for the island of Lesbos. There is a daily crossing and it typically lasts around 90 minutes, though during the off season the ferry route will just run on the Tuesday. Mytilene is situated on the south east coast of the island of Lesbos, and is the capital of the North Aegean Region. The city centre is rich in cultural landmarks, the most impressive being the stunning Gateluzzi Castle, an ancient castle that is surrounded by green hillside. For an extensive day of sightseeing, also make sure to witness the Church of Agios Therapon with its unique structure, and afterwards head to the Statue of Liberty which is conveniently located next to the port. Luckily for visitors travelling via ferry, there are two bus stations located at the harbour, one at the northern tip which runs to the urban areas and one in the southwest corner that runs into the city centre. Alternatively, there are taxis readily available and a couple of rental car companies operating around the city.
