About Pelagie Islands
The Pelagie Islands or Isole Pelagie as the locals call them are the three small islands of Lampedusa, Linosa, and Lampione, just south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea.
Though an Italian island group, they are geographically closer to Africa than Italy.
Lampedusa is the largest of the three with a population nearing 6000, Linosa counts only 400 Lampione is uninhabited (though it does have a lighthouse!).
As well as boasting some of the best beaches in Italy, the Pelagie islands all share the same wonderfully clean sea which makes it popular with diving enthusiasts.
