Cheap ferries to Lanzarote with directferries.co.uk

About Lanzarote

The Canary Island of Lanzarote is located about seventy miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands group.

The fourth largest of the group, with a mild dry climate and average temperatures in the early twenties in January and thirties in August, Lanzarote is an ideal year round holiday destination.

With its volcanic origins, and due to past century eruptions, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another planet, no doubt a contributing factor in the decision to film parts of the Planet of the Apes here. Despite its volcanic nature though, Lanzarote features some stunning white beaches such as those found at Playa Blanca and Papagayo.

Lanzarote is well connected to the other islands of the Canaries by ferry as well as to mainland Spain. The ferry crossings from mainland Spain to Lanzarote are infrequent and long but are operated by large comfortable ships.

The inter-island ferry connections are numerous and include crossings from Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma and Tenerife.

The main arrival port on the island is Arrecife, though crossings from Fuerteventura dock at Playa Blanca.
