The self service area allows you to have a large array of different choices in an informal setting whilst the snack bar serves up fast food classics.
A shopping centre can be found on La Superba where you can enjoy some duty free shopping whilst making your crossing. Voyagers have the chance to buy gifts and pick up some great bargains on items such as perfume, aftershave, alcohol and other selected items. There are also newspapers, magazines, books, toys and puzzles to help you pass the time on your travels.
In the summer months make sure you pack those swimming costumes as you can enjoy the benefits of the Mediterranean climate from the on deck pool. However, all year round you can while away the hours in the modern games room or if you fancy a little flutter, on the slot machines. If you and your colleagues need to have meetings on the move then you are covered thanks to the conference centre and meeting rooms. The public Wi-Fi also makes sure you can surf the web as well as the waves whilst onboard. You’ll also find a chapel and library on the ferry.
Travelling with little ones can sometimes be a challenge but the designated children’s area helps keep young voyagers happy.

"Boat trip "
Very poor organization. The ship left way too late. Overal cleanliness was very poor, aswell was the food. I would never take a ferry again with this company. Not worth the money at all.

"Bring your own food!"
As usual this was a good, efficient trip (my 4th in the past 5 years). however - the cafeteria food was in no way up to the standard you would expect. One other point- for anyone doing this trip for the first time, bear in mind that the road system approaching the port is very confusing, and the signage not at all clear (especially at night)
"GNV palermo to genoa- a good way to travel"
Generally this was a good trip with a nice cabin. However, the main irritation on this and the outbound journey was the requirement to vacate the cabin by 4.30pm when we were not due to arrive until 7.45pm (actually it was an hour later). That is 4 hours sitting in a crowded coffee area or on the deck which was not possible some of the time because of rain. We paid for a higher class of cabin on the assumption that we would be able to relax in it until we arrived. It seems that this is done to prepare the rooms prior to arrival for the next cruise. But is it also so the crew can get off early? We have previously done the similar length journey with P&O from Santander to Plymouth and we were able to stay in our cabin until docking. Finally the staff in the self-service restaurant, greeting, cleaning the cabins and the bars were fairly unfriendly and unhelpful. They were better in the a la carte restaurant.
"No seats at the pool by warm and sunny weather!"
We are very disappointet!
"Terrible"
Still waiting to get off, 1 hour late, nobody k ows what is happening. Food awful and expensive, drinks double on land. Never again
"Trip was so so"
Having used this service for last 4 years, sometimes twice per year, it is a first to be woken early in the morning by someone banging continually in next door cabin, or passengers but stuff doing work! Not good and not really helpful! Door to cabin would not lock and had staff open door twice on journey! A bit of customer services and hospitality training in order I suggest. If another service provider was available I would use them in a shot, Regards Chris
"It Serves a Purpose"
It's ok. But the food is always stone cold...not luke warm....cold. It just misses the little touches that make things better...it feels like no one cares about the experience. Quite depressing. No information provided except over the tannoy which is difficult to pick up.
"Palermo - Genoa GNV"
We were avoiding flying for environmental reasons so travelled by bus, train and ferry instead. We had an excellent trip with GNV. Efficient service and helpful staff. Very comfortable 4 berth cabin to ourselves - there were 2 of us. Very clean, good shower. The food was very reasonably priced and adequate. Very punctual. I would definitely travel with them again, and on other ferries.
"Traversée très agréable"
Cabines spacieuses, bien équipées, fonctionnelles. Beaucoup d'espace pour se promener. Décor un peu clinquant. Service au bar à café peu efficace.
"Chaos"
The voyage itself was splendid. However finding the key to my cabin was extremely frustrating. I had to wander the halls carrying my luggage for a good 10 minutes. This is probably a good time for me to say that I speak Italian. Likewise Dis embarkation was extremely chaotic. Once we were allowed off the ship we found ourselves in an area of Palermo that was dark and lacking signs. This is probably a good time for me to say I had visited Palermo twice before and so could eventually find my way. New travelers had a lot harder time of it. I have taken French ferries to and from Sicily and they are much better organized.
"excellent"
i enjoyed so much my trip i will book again with gnv 😍
"Great trip!"
Everything was just great with this trip from Genoa to Tunis! We are two swedes who travel from Stockholm to Tunis without flying, and this last part of our trip was really pleasant!
"Very relaxing experience - eventually "
Well, the check in process at Genoa was a little bit confusing- there are virtually no road signs except one at the side of the road in Italian which said “Embarcado” and if we has missed it I am sure we would have spent ages trying to find it again. Genoa is a huge port and ok this is Italy but some concession to non native speakers would have been welcome. Anyway we eventually found the ticket office and collected our tickets and having been checked three times made it to the loading queue. From then on, chaos reigned with cars being directed right, left, straight ahead and anything in between.and we started loading at around 9.15pm. We tried to follow directions as best we could but Italian drivers were very impatient and beeped at us if we were not quite fast enough. We eventually parked on the garage deck and made our way up to our cabin. From then on it was great - a whole 21 hours of nothing to do, but one tip here - if you can, stop at a supermarket and purchase your en route snacks and drinks to take on board as on the boat prices are high and quality mediocre. Cabin was fine, very comfortable- only downside you are booted out 21/4 hours before you reach Genoa and have to sit in a crowded bar until you reach port - assuming you can get a seat that is. Still, saved me 800 miles driving through Italy and that’s got to be a positive!
"Superba lives up to its name"
The luxury three berth, outside cabin provided spacious and comfortable accommodation for a lengthy crossing. We enjoyed the food at the ‘ A la carte restaurant ‘. The time between having to vacate the cabin and disembarkation is far too long ( up to three hours ).
"May 2018"
Overall the ferry service is very good the cabins were clean and tide One thing I would do next time -would NOT be to pre pay for the on board food as it is very basic look And you be better buy food ashore and take your own for on board Plus allow for some delays in departure times both of our ferry's departed almost 2 hours late- but arrived on time
"Trip Palermo to Genova"
Strike just before my arrival at Palermo Port delaying sailing for four hours. Total chaos checking-in & loading. Appalling management of vehicles & information non existant. Not helped by delay but I would be surprised if chaos was not the norm. Ship itself very nice including my room (4 berth booked just for myself & would be fine for two. Four would be claustrophobic). After very late arrival a further 1.5 hours for me to disembark. Obviously many earlier but some later. First on is last off. I would try to find an alternative not because of the ship itself but the port procedures & handling are appalling. I would not recommend this trip, not because of the ship itself but the poor sailing time to begin with & the terrible port handling
"Still onboard"
I booked this ferry leaving Genoa at 2000. A combination of GNV rescheduling (3 hours) and apparent strike action @ Genoa (4hours) left us quayside until 0300 the following morning. No sign whatsoever of strike, in fact port workers acting flat out to get everyone onboard, although chaotic at times. Further delays in loading and now scheduled to arrive 2300 tonight. No possibility of arriving in time to access a campsite for our Motor home so facing another long night quayside in Palermo. Advice from reception - try speaking to a local to find out where we can stop safely! Far less than impressive!
"Excellent trip "
Very well organised boarding the ship staff was friendly we had a meal on board food was good and the boat very clean. Would use them again
"Our trip "
It's the first time we have been on a large ferry, and the over all experience was good. The cabin was good, but there was only a sheet on the bed and no blankets. The ship is general was clean and the crew very friendly. The catering was very average and expenceive, most of the facilities were closed.
"Great but for the waiting"
We have now travelled on the Genova-Palermo or Palermo-Genova route about a dozen times over the last 6 years. We think it is a great service, far preferable to driving the length of Italy, and good value IF you go outside the high season, as we do. We generally take an outside cabin with a double bed, for optimum comfort -- the journey does take 20-22 hours, which is exhausting if you only take an airline seat. If you can afford a cabin, go for it. We find the self-service cafeteria not very good, so we tend to take some food on the boat to eat in the evening and for breakfast. But we do usually eat lunch in the more up-market Restaurant Chandelier, which is excellent. The only downside to the journey is the long wait to disembark, particularly if our car is located deep down on Deck A, which for some reason it always is. Two to two-and-half hours waiting around from the time you are asked to vacate your cabin to the time you can drive off the boat, is rather long.
"Not bad but could be better"
The Information desk is not very helpful! They couldn't identify the islands we were passing back to Genoa nor the procedures for disembarking. Plus the cafeteria is overpriced and not very good value for money. Otherwise, fine!
"Ferry to Sicily From Genoa "
We had a nice trip on the ferry which generally very good. The bar was lovely with a really good DJ playing excellent music. We had a cabin which although quite small, was clean tidy and had a good shower. The main problem we had was with the meals. We paid for breakfast and 2 meals upfront. There was no information supplied about anything on the ship. You had to go to the reception desk to ask. We were told that the vouchers supplied for the measy could only be used in what can only be described as the canteen. We picked a few things for breakfast even though we had the vouchers had to pay €10 extra. We had lunch which was stone cold. They must have known this as there are microwaves in the middle of the canteen to reheat your food. We then asked what time the evening meal was served from and we're told that they closed after lunch and did not reopen. The only other problem we had was the cleanliness of the toilets in the public areas.
"Review"
No TV or WiFi in cabins - unfortunate for long trips. Cabins of Scandinavian ferries much better equipped. Car drivers following instructions and arriving early or on time are loaded onto the lowest deck and have to wait an hour to disembark. Car drivers deliberately arriving late are loaded onto the upper decks allowing immediate departure. Something wrong there, surely?
"As flat as a millpond"
We had a really excellent mini cruise from Palermo to Genoa. The sea was flat calm and the weather excellent. The cabin was comfortable and spacious and food and drinks were not over priced as on some ferries. We had to wait 45 mins to disembark which as it was around 8.00 pm could have been a problem for getting to our overnight campsite. It would have taken us 3 days to have driven the distance and cost us more. Looking forward to travelling with them again next year.
"Fix the swimming pool"
Crossing was okay, but the facilities are a bit worn out. Read in another review that the swimming pool was out of order and also on our trip the swimming pool was closed which was a hugh disappointment for our kids
"Had nice time on the ferry"
Had nice time on the ship and would go back some time soon
"Great ships!"
Fantastic ships - very spacious and comfortable. Excellent cabin (4-berth exterior). Good restaurants but the bar facilities were a bit disappointing. Some areas were not available (e,g, the library). On the whole, a great experience we would be happy to repeat.
"Travelling by car to Malta"
The ferry from Genoa, Italy covers a large part of the travelling and cost less than driving the length of Italy, unless your vehicle uses very little fuel. It was our third trip on this route although it is later in the season so was busier than before. The cabins are well presented and well worth purchasing; the hot shower in the en suite is so welcoming after the drive across the UK , France and Italy. I don't think we had this ferry before as our beds this time were a little harder and there was some damage on the sink but nothing that affected our useage. The anouncement system was broken so coupled with the speaker's accents we could not understand the instructions this time but at least we knew the procedures. The restaurant provides hot food but they use bain mare pans to keep things hot whilst serving and it doesn't seem to work very well so they have at least put a microwave in the restaurant for the customer's use. Another advantage is that they have Kennels and a walking deck for pets so you can take them with you, although not into the cabins. Disadvantages are that they do not go directly to Malta and so we have to drive the length of Sicily and get an overnight stay somewhere to catch the Pozzallo ferry to Valletta in the morning. I think Gran Navi Veloci could make a huge trade if they ran a passenger ferry from Genoa to Sardinia then on to Malta. Happy travels.
"La Suoerba"
Good points Ferry was on time leaving and early arriving Comfortable bed, spacious cabin. Low Points Unhelpful staff Poor standard of catering and virtually no choice Limited bar facility Very hot and stuffy on-board Tired not very clean accommodation
"a great sailing "
Grandi Navi Velocity from Palermo to Genoa was well managed from the efficient loading of vehicles thru the good meals to the very clean, comfortable and spacious double cabin that we rented. The meal plan is worth having, dinner & lunch were substantial although breakfast was a bit light. They even had a separate area for our motorcycle and the 2 others, away from the trucks and cars. We recently sailed from Greece to Brandisi Italy on a competing line (single word name also starting with a "G") and although not bad it was no where near as comfortable and good value.
"Great trip"
We booked Pullman seats but upgraded to a cabin when onboard which made the journey really enjoyable. Helpful, friendly staff. Disappointed the pool was not in use as it was a beautiful day. The only downside was the early exit from the cabin, two hours before we docked and the chaos of the wait to access the car, could easily be rectified, this was a common experience not just a Brit gripe. Enjoyed the trip however.
"to palermo from genoa. "
Probably cheaper than driving but not as scenic. You arrive fresh rather than tired. Cabin was good. nice sleep. restaurant had good food. done the trip several times. Last on, first off!!!!!!
