Pont-Aven is Brittany Ferries' flagship and possibly the most luxurious ferry currently in operation. The ship itself boasts stunning features, including a superb pool and leisure area, a wrap around promenade for pleasant deck strolls, and a dramatic five deck high atrium with panoramic views from the lifts. Pont Aven of course also meets all of Brittany Ferries' high standards in dining and facilities, with an a la carte restaurant, cocktail piano bar and 2-storey lounge bar and entertainment area.

Onboard Cabins / Reserved Seating

The Pont Aven boasts superb onboard cabin accommodation setting new standards in comfort and style. All 650 cabins have air-conditioning with individual temperature control, en-suite bathrooms, comfortable seating and a radio.

The ship also features around 50 reclining seats and for added comfort you can purchase a sleep pack with blanket, sleep mask, ear plugs, and a shower pack with soap and shampoo gel plus disposable towel.

Onboard Food and Drink

Pont-Aven offers all the dining options you would expect on a cruise ship, from the à la carte Flora Restaurant to the self-service restaurants, La Belle Angèle and Le Café du Festival, with food freshly prepared by our skilled French chefs.

Pont Aven's main lounge bar ‘Le Grand Pavois’ serves a range of cocktails as well as beers and wines, hot and cold drinks plus snacks. With seating on two decks joined by a large sweeping staircase, the bar area has a real cruise ship feel. It is also the focal point for entertainment provided by magicians, singers and bands and there are a number of flat screen televisions showing big sports matches and news updates to ensure that you never get bored.
This stylish cocktail bar, adjacent to Le Flora Restaurant ‘Le Fastnet’, is the perfect place for an aperitif or a post-dinner digestif and the relaxed mood is enhanced by the pianist.

During the summer season and on busy off-season crossings you can enjoy Pont Aven's pool and leisure area bar ‘Les Finistères’ which serves wines, beers and soft drinks.

Onboard Shopping

Pont Aven boutiques are on decks 6 and 7 and offer a fine range of spirits, wine, tobacco, perfumes & cosmetics, leather goods, confectionery, toys, fashion, decoration, souvenirs, newspapers, games, cameras, sunglasses, jewellery.

Purchases made on board may be paid for in Euros or Sterling. Payment can be made in cash, by credit or debit card. Prices are shown in both currencies and you can combine different payment methods.

Additional Onboard Facilities

In addition to the Cinema's, bureau de change, casino (slot machines) and live entertainment, there is a magnificent indoor pool area which offers guests the chance to unwind, relax on a sun lounger, sip a drink at the bar, or have a splash in the pool with its great sea-views.

For a stroll, the Promenade allows you to walk all around the ship, while the ship's top deck offers a calm spot to relax, while enjoying the sea air and incredible views, particularly when entering or leaving the port.

Pont Aven features a number of lounges onboard where you can relax including a reclining seat lounge (for those that aren't travelling with a cabin), Commodore lounge (an exclusive room for suite passengers, and includes access to two side patio areas) and a spacious lounge on the mezzanine level of the main bar with comfortable lounge chairs and sofas.

You can also take a free audio guided 21 stage tour explaining the decoration and art works aboard the ship.

Travelling with Children

Young children can enjoy fun and games in the playroom and the games room will keep teenagers entertained throughout the trip. Highlights include the latest video games and an air hockey table.

Accessibility

There are a number of cabins adapted for disabled passengers and all decks are accessible by lift.

"Happy sailing "

Having just come back from a trip to Northern Spain, I can report a drama free journey and smooth crossing. It was busy, but it was August after all. Boat was clean and comfortable and made for a relaxing start and finish to our holiday. Would recommend.

Quick and easy boarding procedures, ship appeared very clean. Cabin was very small but as we just used it for sleeping it was adequate. Pillow was rock hard so not for me but the shower was exquisite! I have to say that I have never been on this ferry before and this was the loudest I have ever been on.

All fine except for the food in the cafe. The evening meal for us as vegetarians was either a tiny tiny lasagna, which we didn't go for or ratatouille, which was just over cooked slop, served with massively over cooked peas and virtually cold rice. Come you can surely do better than that, I'm not madly fussy but that was poor.

Not impressed. Two used cups one with used ear buds in our cabin. Went for the al a carte breakfast sent mine back because it was cold, the replacement came minus the extra tomatoes I had ordered and that was colder still plus the toast just wasn’t good. The waitress who served us just said sorry.

We travelled from Plymouth to Santander and return on Brittany Ferries service Pont Aven. Facilities on board were excellent, nice bars, good food, clean cabin. The only issue was that a week before were told the departure time was now 2 hrs later but with no explanation- is it actually a re-timetabling? It means departure is quite late and you feel you are on board all the next day. Original departure times would be better.

Generally the voyage was very enjoyable both ways. The cabin was comfortable and clean, the ship was clean and the staff were very helpful, cheerful and polite. Both ways the ship sailed late, therefore arriving late but that wasn’t too bad. What lets the service supplied down at both ports (I appreciate this isnt the fault of Brittany Ferries) are the Customs facilities; in both directions it took us over an hour to get through Passport Control and that is something for the Ferry Company to consider because it ultimately became a disappointing end to an enjoyable voyage.

From start to finish the journey was brilliant staff excellent internment brilliant but I will try to upgrade my cabin size on my return I would like to point out the problem with first contact on the Internet concerning the size of my motor home I put in my vehicle registration number and you came back with the dimensions for that registration only to find out later it was 25mm higher than your estimated size and I had to pay a further £43 because you said it was wrong I will still travel with you but be very careful with my booking kind regards Ronnie Andrews

"Lack of communication "

The boat itself was good. One way there was a delay of about 3 hours because 1 of the engines broke and there was a real lack of communication which is not good when you have connecting transport to catch. When departing the boat nobody tells you which way to go and then the H&S decided the foot passengers needed to wait for a bus to go to the ferry terminal and your luggage gets loaded on and off the bus separate which takes more time if your in a rush to catch a connection. The turn around of the cleaning of the boat is short, so if you have a cabin bear this in mind.

We were so hot in our 4 berth room. With 4 people. The air conditioning was barely working. We went to the information desk twice and we’re given another room to go to, which would have better air conditioning. This is at 11:30, I placed the card in the door to open it and two people were sleeping in there!! Absolutely terrible that they’d given us a room with someone in it. We were then given another room and after lugging our stuff across the ship, the air con was no better. We also did not have any pillowcases on our pillows in the second room so had to go back to our first room to retrieve our original ones.

"Lovely ferry, but queues on and off were horrible!"

The ferry, crossing, staff, facilities were all perfect (apart from one till going down on the food counter and by the time we paid for our meal, it was cold), however the queues getting on and off the ferry were crazy! We sat port side for 4 hours to get through passport and customs. Appreciate staffing at the mo is hard, but 4 guys on border control for hundreds of vehicles was ridiculous.

What I have found I was pleased about is the interaction with the ferry crew, all polite and willing to help. The buffet food was of a good quality in my view and not excessively expensive. Queuing for 2 hrs plus to get on the ferry and then queuing slightly longer to get off, makes flying seem a better option. I’d be interested to know why more staff can’t be employed to speed up embarkation, and why is it necessary to check passports when exiting the boat. It seems unlikely that any changes to passenger IDs are going to take place mid-crossing. And to top it all, you then have to queue to make a dinner reservation . On line/on board booking would eliminate this problem. Other than this, three star seems about right. The dinner was decent, good wine, poor English breakfast, but in fairness on a French boat, not the best choice.

Down side is getting onboard, I was on a motorbike and in Plymouth had no cover from the rain taking 3 hours to get onboard and again in Santander had no cover from the sun for the same 3 hours to get onboard, problem would appear to be Brexit related whereby we now have to have our passports stamped in both directions. Surely they can come up with a way of streamlining the process and give some cover to motorcyclists

The ship was great. We really enjoyed the trip and everything went smoothly. But next time I will not go through direct ferries anymore. I only accidentally booked with them because I happened to click on their advertisement on Google. I meant to book a refundable ticket but that got lost in the process. The ticket I booked was amendable. When I actually had to amend the date of my trip my first request was closed automatically by direct ferries. I created another request and ended up exchanging a lot of emails with direct ferries. Every single one came from a different member of the staff and often the contradicted each other. Time passed and the new ticket became more and more expensive. Even more expensive than on the website of the ferry operator. In the end I was so frustrated that I stopped the process and ended up using the original booking.

Staff was ever so friendly, ship facilities all good (clean and in working order), I loved the experience of being on a boat and staring out over the ocean. The non-cabin sleeping option is really very uncomfortable though. I had expected the chair to be more horizontal and also have a footrest, it did not. A few smart people brought their sleeping bags and camped out on the floor. It really is too bad there are no single person cabins or bunkbeds available at a friendly price for a traveler on foot.

The whole experience was great - the restaurant and shop were surprisingly good and reasonably priced and the ship clean and staff well trained The only downsides were the very uncomfortable mattress and super expensive wifi which disappeared suspiciously quickly I bought a 1GB package for £21 as I had to do several things for work and it lasted about half an hour of messages and surfing. I would definitely never repeat that experience again..

I have used Brittany Ferries many times and on my most recent trip I had a Leatherman tool (which included a knife) confiscated from me. I was told that these were prohibited in the - I quote - "fine print" of the terms & agreement but I'd never had this problem before so I did not consider it. They took the tool which cost me upwards of £120 and said if I sent an email to such and such a person I could get it back when I returned thru the port. This was totally up to his discretion if he would hold onto it and return it. But as I was not returning via the same port I was out of luck. I could not believe such a policy exists: there were many caravans heading to Spain that day, I couldn't imagine they did not have similar tools onboard - they are so necessary when camping! This seems like a deeply flawed policy: I understand why but couldn't they be confiscated then given back as you leave the ship? Or make repeat the warning in bold type when agreeing to the terms and conditions? I've lost a very expensive and much needed tool. So beware. This is the warning I wish I had been given and not in "fine print."

The cabin was an outside 2 berth and therefore not very spacious, will book a 4 berth next time so neither of us have to climb onto a bunk bed, both in our 60s so it wasn't easy. The broom closet we had on our return trip was not impresive at all, I was able to switch on the ensuite light and open the door whilst still lying in the bed and it was one step from the bed to the ensuite which was tiny. Anyone having to say in a room like that for more than one night would be horrendous. Not to be recommended.

Mixed views about the trips. Managed to get an up-grade on the way out to a better cabin but not on the way back. People should be warned about the cramped size of the 2 berth inside cabins and the difficulties of using the top bunk for anyone with mobility problems. Felt that Brittany Ferries have definitely dumbed down since the last time I used you. Cabins still being cleaned when we got on both times - presumably tight turn around is for company profit which comes well before customer experience. Off-loading at both ends slow,chaotic and tedious. Booking for dinner ridiculous - why can't you use on-line booking? Priority customers seemed to have filled most of the available slots even before some of the first in the queue got to the booking desk on board.

"A game of 2 halves"

I always look forward to travelling with Brittany Ferries. Wonderful staff, good vessels, comfortable lounges, cosy cabins and their piece de resistance, the food in their restaurant. On the outward journey (Tue 11/09 - 17.00 Portsmouth to Santander), they excelled even by their high standards. All 3 courses were just stunning (as was the presentation of the food) and you would be hard pushed to be served better food in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Along with very good, sensibly priced wines, it was a memorable dining experience. Jump forward to the return journey (Mon 24/09 - 15.15) and all was good until the restaurant experience. The ship had been delayed (I don't know why) and you could sense as soon as you walked into the restaurant, everything was a little more frenetic with staff rushing around. Customers complaining about the service delays, staff dropping plates of food. They forgot to put the crab on my wife’s crab starter, her main course of duck was inedible so tough was the meat, my risotto was bland to the point of being tasteless. We couldn’t quite believe we were eating in the same restaurant as 2 weeks earlier. Not sure why things had gone so badly wrong but so so disappointing. Let’s hope they get things sorted.

"Santander to Plymouth on the Pont Aven"

Although there was a 4 hour delay for technical reasons it was managed in a sympathetic way with voucher for coffee and refreshments. Polite staff at the port which in turn was easy to find as it is well signposted. Boarding of such a large ferry obviously takes time but was done efficiently as was the unloading. This ship has many facilities including a pool, 3 cinemas, gift shop, restaurant and self service cafe . Plenty of seating on the decks. My only negative comments were the internal signs for finding the cabins which were misleading with many of us unable to find our cabins and some of the staff when asked could not help. The other thing was the free WIFI which has a pass code on your ticket, ours did not work so I went to the information desk and was given another code which came up again as invalid, so I gave up as it was only a 20 hour crossing. All in all it was a good service which I will definately us again and recommend to others.

Every year, we take the ferry UK-Spain and Spain-UK and always had very pleasant journey. the beds are clean and comfortable, food is ok drinks somehow on the expensive side, but on the whole, very pleasant. The disappointment for us is the fact that they use A LOT of plastic.....

"Not good "

We had a very rough trip, due to the captain taking a diversion through the bay of Biscay, to make up time for being late. The children’s menu was near non-existent and the food that was available was abysmal...rock hard chips, only peas on offer for children. Everything was clearly warmed up within an inch of its flavour. The reclining chairs only reclined if you were heavy enough to keep them in that position, which my son is not. So he had a very bad night. The staff didn’t seem to want to help, when I kept reporting that there was vomit on the floors, or on the toilet floors etc. The cleaner was absolutely lovely and helpful though. Really not worth £500 for a one way crossing. They kept us waiting, in the same spot, for nearly 3 hours in the car park waiting to embark (with 2 children in the car)...although disembarking was a lot faster. Overall a nightmare of a trip.

Sailing at 7.25pm for a scheduled departure at 5.15pm - this has apparently been the case for the previous 3 weeks as well. Turnaround for a medical emergency as well - dog bit his owner! Nothing at all wrong with the ship or crew, but an extremely tiring experience.

Portsmouth-Santander 2 hour delay,no reason given, not even offered a sandwich Santander- Portsmouth 2 hour 5 minute delay followed by a further 2 hour delay,no food or drink offered or reason given. By the time we reached our hotel it was nearly time to get up Brittany Ferries like a certain airline seem not to give a dam about customer service. If I can find an alternative Ferry company I will use them in future.

The ship was great, best ferry I have travelled on, and there have been a few. The ferry left nearly an hour late, but made up time on the crossing. Regular updates were given over tannoy system. Only half HR by time we docked. Kids LOVED the pool. Ferry was really spacious. Considering the number of passengers on board it didn't feel cramped. Singer in the entertainment lounge couldn't sing!

Pretty good service. Food ok for overnight journey. Obviously cabin very small but sufficient for 1 person. Not really any advantage paying extra for porthole ( I did for outbound) as there’s another large window the other side which isn’t particularly crystal clear. Facilities reasonable, cabin cleaned to a good standard, although on inbound I was 1 of many who had to wait a while for cabin to be made ready, after long motorcycle journey and battling the heat in parking deck not what you want. Overall far better than trudging down motorway in France if Spain is your destination.

Hi, we booked the return sailings with direct ferries and inputted the VW. Camper van height and length in the choices you gave us, when we arrived at Portsmouth for our outward journey at check in were told to pay another £80 , £40 each way because we were over the 183 centimetres mark on the side of the check in booth. I'd inputted up to 2.5mts in the hight box when booking, not happy ! Everything else was fine and will be using the Pont Aven again.

The ship had good facilities and the food and drink charges were reasonable. However, as in similar crossings the cabin was not ready on the outbound or inbound journey. Considering the extortionate pricing for a shoe box this is unacceptable. We were on a motorcycle which added to the discomfort. Also the cabin was located adjacent to the engine/exaust which made sleep almost impossible as the interior walls were constantly vibrating.

We decided to use Directferries as an alternative to driving all the way through France, and we loved it! It's a much easier option for us as we had to drive all the way to southern Portugal, and the ferry allowed us to have a relaxing time and fantastic sleep. We will definitely be using the ferry route again, and absolutely recommend this as a faster, easier, more enjoyable option to driving for 2, or even 3, days in a row.

This was our second trip on Brittany Ferries, so we should have remembered where the second bunk bed in our cabin was stowed, but our excuse was a very interesting journey through the clouds by car to Santander, ( visibility zero) following a very tiring working stay in Madrid. The confusion was beautifully off-set by a fabulous dinner in the Restaurant Flores, with very attentive staff and first class food. The cabin facilities were very good, but limited on space. We enjoyed our twenty- hour journey to Plymouth, including more unseasonal weather, fog, and were not inconvenienced by a totally understandable slightly late arrival in Plymouth. A very civilised end to a remarkable journey.

"A game of two halves"

Onto the Armorique at Plymouth, everyone friendly and efficient as usual, up to our cabin, clean and tidy, but a slightly odd almost chemical smell - had they changed the cleaning chemicals? No. No. By the end of the night the bathroom was somewhat malodorous and it was beginning to pervade the cabin itself. So we beat an early retreat for breakfast, where we lost a rather expensive water bottle, received mixed levels of interest and concern from staff and were compensated with a two litre bottle of water (did they understand the problem?) On the return trip I decided to try again at the customer services desk and, with the usual prompt efficiency the bottle was triumphantly produced. Boarding at Roscoff on the way back was not Brittany Ferries usual slick operation, positioning on the car decks was a bit chaotic and they didn't appear to know where they wanted to put me and didn't even see the 9C sticker at first! However, we were near enough to the lift for me to be able to manage with my elderly, blind husband so all was well. That is, until dinner time - who on earth puts crab in coleslaw? Even if it is the fake stuff (surimi). Well, I am both vegetarian and allergic to crab - big fail on two fronts! I stopped eating it as soon as I hit the fishy taste, but even fake crab had me unwell for the next six to eight hours - food needs labelling properly Brittany!! I will still travel with Brittany again. There have been too many good times for one bad trip to put me off, but a letter will be written and I hope they will take appropriate action.

Everything was good except for the self service restaurant! I am coeliac no gluten or wheat! When I asked the question anything gluten/wheat free the angry chef shouted meat! Salad! The other guy Westinghouse at me as if I was mad! They then left me standing and carried on serving everyone else. Hubby shouted at the chef saying steak please! Got the steak. Salad b ad only had lettuce leafs,beetroot,corn! Everything else had mayo on it. Steak was the worse I have ever had, chew it! Tough was an understatement. Spoke to the manager! He wanted to give me a refund! Not what I wanted. Needed to be treated with a little respect. The chef was rude and arrogant with everyone. He didn't know the days special! He couldn't be bothered with me. It was the worse. Javier service I have ever e perienced. Imagine a parent with a child needing gluten free food! They couldn't eat a steak or pork lumps!

Sailed on the Pont Aven in May June 2018. The facilities etc were 1st class but the cabin size came as a shock upon entering. there was no room to move and had 2 bunk beds. How is a pensioner expected to climb a ladder to reach the top bunk with barely any headroom. You should take more consideration as to the age and health of your passengers before allocating a cabin.

"A smooth sailing"

This was my first experience taking the ferry to England. I had no idea what size the ferry would be or amenities onboard. Waiting to board in Santander was not bad, in the port they have a shop and cafe, plus you are very close to Santander itself so lots to occupy yourself with. The boarding process went ok, again I had no expectations, and as soon as we had driven our cars onto the ferry we were allowed to secure them and go to our cabin, or any of the bars/restaurants you chose. The staff onboard are very polite and professional, the food is good quality and not rip off prices like airports. There is entertainment during the crossing too and the shop onboard offers a good selection of everything. I would highly recommend a cabin for the crossing, even if you only have a short distance to travel on arrival, a good nights sleep makes a huge difference.

The facilities were good, the ferry was clean, staff not all clued up . Ferry was on time, However....., the restaurant was a big let down, we decided to have breakfast in the restaurant, we had to wait 10 mins for bacon to be brought out, then fresh cooked eggs brought out it was all cold, toast cold, we were in restaurant for 1 hour and 15 mins, we decided not to complain to restaurant manager as we did not want another breakfast, when we came out and paid i told the girl at the till that our breakfast was cold she said she did not know what we should do about that, we went to the information desk to suggest that things should be done differently in the restaurant. We were told that she did not want to know and we should have complained to the manager of the restaurant, she appeared stressed and rude. She gave me a questionnaire to fill in. This will not solve the cold breakfast, we would have got better value in the self service restaurant, the ferry do not take complaints or criticism very well. It will not stop us using the ferry again but we would not use the expensive and poor value for money restaurant again.

An overnight ferry so we booked a cabin which was small but clean and suitable for purpose. The early morning wake up call at 6am was very annoying though and wouldn’t allow us to switch it off!!! The restaurant was closed due to the late departure which again was disappointing but we found the staff were really apologetic and did everything they could to settle us in. "Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Santander crossing 17 April"

All in all a good crossing apart from a delayed start from Portsmouth. However, although the sailing seemed to be going well during the evening of 17th, on rising on the morning of 18 April we were made aware of there having been more technical problems overnight. Apparently the arrival time in Santander was now scheduled for 5/6 hours later than the original docking time. We were all given the choice of a free pizza or 25% off the price of a hot meal to compensate for the delay. This, we feel was not really adequate as the time we were now scheduled to arrive in Santander would be too late to be able to find somewhere to eat on disembarking. I realise technical problems are unavoidable but we had been advised by text at 12.23 that day that this boat already had technical problems and the sailing was then being delayed by approximately 60 minutes. As you will appreciate it is very difficult driving in a foreign, unknown area but the late arrival time because of the delay, made it extremely difficult.

"Long delay in sailing"

I used Brittany ferries to travel to Spain November 2017 and was very impressed with the whole service! Cleanliness, helpfulness of staff, quality of accommodation, prices on board and punctuality of departure and arrival times. Most of my return journey aspects were the same. However the delay in sailing was badly managed. Initial message stated that reason for delay (4hrs and 45mins)was down to technical/weather delay! The technical problem was forgotten in all further correspondence so negating any chance of compensation for the delay. In accordance with EU regulations customers are entitled to a refund of 25% of fare if delay is greater than 3hours on an 8 to 24hr sailing. If the delay is down to technical problems but not weather! I was given a voucher on arrival to Santander port for a kit kat a coffee a small bottle of water. Hardly sufficient compensation for the disruption to travel on the day of sailing and the ongoing disruption caused! When the ship finally arrived the facilities and service were once again excellent and the delay in arrival was reduced to just over 3hrs. I will not let this unfortunate experience affect my chances of using this service again as on the whole it is an excellent service.

The full english breakfast was uneatable. I saw lots of plates left with most of the breakfast on them so we weren't the only ones who thought so. The 'free' pizza was also uneatable so glad it was free because of the delay that day. We had difficulty finding the lift to our car deck and nobody we asked could tell us but the cleaners!

On arriving at St Malo at 8am on 19th March there was a problem with the passport of one of my rescue dogs. The staff at the terminal went out of their way to solve the problem for me and ensure that I was able to catch the ferry. Their assistance went way beyond the expected level of Customer Care, was exceptional and I wish to commend them for their actions and all the help that they gave a very weary traveller-well done Brittany Ferries

"Relaxed return home"

Loading and boarding was efficient with good pre planning from the port staff and crew, the quickest and easiest we have ever experienced. Cabin was easy to find although somewhat small, it was adequate, from there we enjoyed a meal in the self service restaurant and my wife commented that it stood out as the best meal since we have been travelling on Brittany Ferries, mine was good too. An added bonus awaited us in the lounge, entertainment. A singing duo followed by a female singer who were both very good and interesting to listen too, a comedy magician followed with plenty of audience participation. Yes us, as we were nearest to the stage (not a mistake in this instance) and it was thoroughly enjoyable with good cocktails from the bar to boot. Breakfast was excellent and we disembarked quickly and easily, same again next time please.

"Cattle Class"

Despite having a cabin for both outbound and return crossings, I was extremely disappointed with how quickly and urgently the staff on board were to get everybody off the ferry. Bombarded with endless announcements from an hour before the ferry even docked. Cleaning staff hammering on the door. What the urgency was I do not know. The ferry was in port both ends all day! I will not be on another overnight crossing with Brittany Ferries. They have a lot Ely, indoor pool on Pont Aven, yet it spends 7 out of 12 months every year, closed. Brittany Ferries say that it's because of rough weather during the winter. Both legs of our journey were as calm as a mill pond. Pointless!! Zero entertainment on stage, even on overnight crossings, because off season. Very very disappointing experience. Only plus point was the hot food in the self service restaurant was nice. That's it. Poor!

Travelling with a car embarking and disembarking was a breeze. All crew / staff were friendly and knowledgable, dinner and breakfast superb, entertainment was good and especially enjoyed the piano bar for chilling. Prices were very reasonable. Cabin was small but comfortable and slept really well. Dolphins welcoming us home following the ship almost into port. In all a most enjoyable experience like a mini cruise!! Definitely will use again.

Our third encounter of the Bay of Biscay and it wasn't an unhappy one! A great trip with great facilities. Our cabin (4 persons - as it was the only type left available for our chosen crossing) was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Beautiful towels supplied with an amazing shower considering the confinement of the bathroom. My given stars for ship punctuality is only reflected because of the bad weather (not anyone's fault) which delayed departure but that said, we were kept informed throughout the day for which we were most grateful. Overall cannot fault, would definitely consider travelling with Brittany Ferries again. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Our recent crossing was in an absolutely pristine ship with the Staff being both courteous, helpful and cheerful - all aspects that just enhanced the very pleasant crossing. The entertainment was very good, the food was fair to middling and our only gripe was that the 'superior' cabins were in short supply as, when we booked, they had all been 'taken'. Even though we had to have an internal cabin (one of our worst nightmares), all in all, we were very happy with our experience.

The good points Nice boat with enough facilities to keep you entertained fed and rested for the duration of the trip. Staff were very good other than one person I met. Small interior cabin with bunks was not luxurious by any means but sufficient for the trip. Entry port at Santander was easy enough to find. Bad points Tried to buy a Buffett breakfast but the rude young “chef” when I went up to counter just rudely said breakfast has finished and then walked off. I had no notion this was going to happen and his attitude wasn’t in keeping with all the other staff I met. Instead went to the a la carte Restaurant and paid around €15 per person. The cooked breakfast was truly dreadful. Bacon and sausages etc were entirely dry. Now I know it was late but I do not believe I should be served an inferior breakfast because of that. As usual waiter was good mannered and understanding. By contrast the a la carte served on the way over to St Malo On a similar ship in the evening was excellent. Disembarking was tedious, and it took around 1 hour before we got to passport control. And then the journey out of Plymouth also was lengthy and unpleasant. Any first time visitors to England might well be disappointed by this opening introduction to our lovely country.

"Disaster"

Being about 7th car in the que at Santander, I did not expect to be stuck on the lowest deck (2) which is accessible until After All the other decks where open, and then we had to go to deck 5 for the stairway, but also it was only accessible from one side of the ship. We were up and down the stair ways several times the lift to the door to deck 2 was OUT OF ORDER, we eventually spoke to a crew member on deck 3 and asked him how to get to deck 2, sending us back upto deck 5, when eventually getting to the Open door on deck 2 the person standing there was the person who had sent us upto deck 5 (Obviously there is another door that can be used by the staff only, But I bet they do not have to go to deck 5 first). The cabins were too small, one of the bunks had to be pulled down from the ceiling, which gave my partner a feeling of claustrophobia, and was unable to sleep. We had to wait for the cabin to be cleaned 20 mins after boarding the ship.

"Wifi Woe"

Travelled with Brittany Ferries quite a few times. The facilities and accommodation are always great, the cleanliness is the same. The one problem I have always had, is wifi connectivity and reliability. Pont Aven was by far the worst yet for this. Even when able to connect, the speed and reliability were woeful! Although this wouldn't stop me booking, I think for the £500 the crossing cost, I should be able to expect decent wifi, even in the cabin.

We recently travelled from Roscoff to Plymouth and had an easy experience on the ferry. The children loved the cabin and the time flew by. If you plan on watching the cinema do arrive 30 minutes before to purchase a ticket and we ate in the restaurant - service and range of options was really good.

We drove from Lisbon to Santander to catch the ferry home and took a couple of days to do so, stopping in Porto and Leon, both worth a stay. We had a spacious outside cabin. Long waits to both embark and disembark, add an hour at least each end but probably due to increased security. Very friendly helpful staff, very organised car parking inside ferry with clear instruction for us to be able to find our way back to the car. Good catering facilities and lovely food in the buffet cafeteria if a little pricey for breakfast. It felt like a long trip but for me it was preferential to driving up to France to get a ferry back to the uk.

My first ferry crossing from Spain to the UK. The ferry itself was impressive in size, comfort, and services offered. As a foot passenger I had booked a reclining chair, but then ended up sleeping on the carpeted floor, like many others, and had one of my best nights ever sleeping like this! Free shower in the bathroom -- I could not believe it! The restaurant offered a good selection of food, at reasonable prices. There were plenty of outlets for charging phones, and WiFi on high sea was most useful in booking accommodation in Plymouth prior to my arrival. All in all this was a fantastic experience.

"Review of boat"

Overall satisfactory with fair amount of space considering boat was full. However we thought the food service at self service was chaotic with 2 queues one for main section n one for children's meals meant we had to queue twice. Also we had two separate 2 berth cabins one at bow and one at stern 2 floors apart and at opposite ends of boat. Surely this is something that can be easily avoided with an algo my 10 yr old son could write. Check in v efficient and boat sailing on time but we had 1 hr delay leaving as bow doors were stuck closed and we were late for out meeting for accom that night. Good to see that bar prices were v reasonable considering there was nowhere else to go though felt cafeteria was not as good value. Would prefer an option in main restaurant that was not trying to be a fancy restaurant i.e.more food like decent pub grub. Only 1 cinema working n half games in video arcade were broken.

We were delighted with our cabin. Everything was clean, easy and exactly as it said it would be. The standard of catering in the self-service restaurant surpassed our expectations. The ship was impressive and loading/unloading very straight forward. The staff were informative and welcoming. Our only disappointment were the facilities for families. Our children (12 and 6) had travelled for a long time by car and so we were expecting lots for them to do at night. By the time we unpacked our cabin and went for dinner, everything but the bar was closed. The pool didn't open at all during the crossing, the last cinema showing was already underway by the time we got to the cinema, the kids play area was for younger children and the games area was not engaging. We then decided to go to the shop to let them get a treat and it had closed five mins before we got there. It might be naive of us, but we had expected most areas to be open until midnight or beyond given our late departure time.

This trip was much more pleasant than the trip going. That was Portsmouth to Santander. 28 hours going with nothing much to do no entertainment. Small shops not enough seating around and hardly any on deck. 20 hours on this trip with good entertainment plenty of seating and on deck. Bigger shops. Food a bit expensive for what it was.
