Reclining seats provide a great value option for overnight crossings and additional comfort to your day sailing. These lounges are ideal for groups or large parties as well as for individual customers wishing to stretch out and relax.
The Bretagne main a la carte restaurant ‘Les Abers’ offers seating for smaller and larger groups. You'll enjoy elegant surroundings and panoramic views - as well as an open kitchen where you can see first-class chefs in action. La Baule is the Bretagne's self-service restaurant. Café - La Gerbe de Locronan serves sandwiches, cakes, pastries and hot and cold drinks. The children's soft play area is also situated within this area, so is a great place for families. The Bretagne's main lounge bar, Gwenn Ha Du serves everything from the finest French wines to cocktails. Also on the menu are hot and cold drinks and snacks. The bar also offers some tiered seating, ensuring a great view of the large stage area which regularly plays host to great cabaret acts, from singers to magicians! There are also a number of flat screen televisions showing big sports matches and news updates. Located at the entrance of the main restaurant, the Bretagne's piano bar, Yacht Club offers a superb setting for an aperitif - or a great atmosphere in which to simply relax as you sip cocktails and enjoy live music played on a grand piano.

"Road trip 2023"
We allways enjoy this crossing .it sails at a nice time of day and arrives early in france so you have the whole day ahead of you .
"Ferry crossing"
Good crossing, comfortable and on time.staff very helpful
"Great ship"
Nice trip home!!
"Ferry crossing "
Fantastic service
"BF catering lets a good service down"
In almost all respects my recent journey , aboard Bretagne, was enjoyable and the vessel met high standards.....but. On an 8.5 hour crossing was the restaurant only open for 1 hour 15 minutes? And at almost €30 for the privilege. The self-service cafeteria meal was pre-cooked, tired and dull. At least the fish tasted quite good, though luke warm. Very clean ship. Staff very pleasant. Drinks at very good prices. Disembarkement fairly quick. Arrival bang on time.
"Great trip"
All very efficient
"Gentle sailing back to Portsmouth"
Our first experience of the St Malo Portsmouth sailing and would not hesitate to do it again. One of the larger ships in the Brittany Ferries fleet and plenty of room everywhere. As we were out of season there was little or no waiting for any of the facilities on board and lots of places, inside and out, to rest up. Checking in was quick and a relatively short wait to go through the french border checks. Similar experience in Portsmouth. Perhaps not the case when travelling in peak season?
"Ferry crossing Portsmouth to St. Malo & return"
The cabin facilities were basic but comfortable enough, the food was average, staff friendly. Much cheaper and easier than flying and probably not much time difference either. Plus you can take as much with you as you can get in the car!
"So comfortable "
We enjoyed our voyage to portsmouth so much! Thank you.
"Portsmouth St Malo"
I had a pleasant trip, taking my motorcycle across to France. A bit of wait to board, never good for a biker. Cars are more comfortable. Quick disembark though. Nice buffet facility, friendly staff, clean dining area. Cabin clean and comfortable. Thank you.
"St malo to Portsmouth crossing"
Fantastic service , our ferry trip was made so easy and stress free , from moment we boarded our motorhome , booking in was simple , staff were always easant and accommodating, food on board was 5 star and entertainment felt like we were on a mini cruise .would recommend this trip for sure
"Friendly"
Friendly staff. Efficient. Nothing to complain about. Thank you
"1st time ferry crossing "
Would not recommend a day crossing, cabin nice, but silly things (embarking, wifi, shops closing) made it a painful experience
"Trip on foot to Brittany in September"
The experience of the ferry (the first time I have been on a cross channel ferry for more than 25 years) was very positive. The ferry was comfortable and the staff helpful and pleasant. The night crossing with a cabin was a good experience. The only thing that I would suggest could be improved was for foot passengers emerging and walking to the railway station. There was no dedicated footpath and we had to navigate through the car park. Also some signs for the sation and the quickest way would have been warmly welcomes
"Bretagne Fantastic"
We have not travelled on a Ferry for over 20 years, always flying! However, we were more than pleasantly surprised at the facilities on board, with plenty of choice for eating, drinking and even a cinema! The 2 berth accommodation was functional with little noise and decent facilities! The only downside was the music through the cabin intercom to alert you that the ship was close to docking, The overall experience booking in at portsmouth and the loading procedure (although you always feel you've chosen the wrong lane) was a pleasant one, no problem at all.
"France and back"
Everything went well. We would like to have been off first as we had a long trip from Portsmouth to Edinburgh . Is there a way of organising that in advance?
"Ferry crossing"
Every thing was perfect, the staff were very efficient
"A pleasant way of crossing the zChannel"
The outbound journey (Portsmouth/St Malo ms Bretagne) was quite rough and the inbound journey (Caen/ Portsmouth, ms Mont St Michel) was very smooth. Both ships were comfortable, and despite being end of season most facilities were open, the main restaurant outbound served only cold food, and was closed completely inbound. The cabins on both were comfortable. My only criticism was the time taken to unload, at both arrival ports, for example it took about an hour between arriving at Portsmouth and clearing the port. However all in all a reasonable experience and I would use these routes if visiting Brittany in the future.
"Great way to cross the channel"
Easy to book via Direct Ferries. The embarkation and disembarkation were straightforward. The food in the self service restaurant was reasonable value for money. Disappointing that thge free wifi did not work in the self service restuarant
"No Wifi"
Wifi does not work at all even in public areas, reclined seats area
"Great experience all around, no problems with anything. "
Direct Ferries have some very unfavourable reviews online, which, in my experience is totally unjustified. Our family experience with DF was absolutely great, we had no problems with anything, their price was cheaper than booking direct with Brittany Ferries. We did the Portsmouth - St. Malo crossing in peak holiday season. The booking experience was easy and straightforward, the confirmation emails explained everything, how to to get to the ports, and all the information I needed to make sure we have a great start to the holiday.
"3 negative issues"
The crossing was good on the whole but there were 3 issues that people may need to be aware of: 1.The cabins were still being cleaned when we boarded at Portsmouth so there were queues of people hanging around with their belongings 2. The menu in the buffet was very confusing as none of the options advertised were on offer which led to more queues as people had to make different choices when they got to the service area and 3. Worst of all was the constant barking by one of the dogs in the deck below us. It went on ALL night so we didn’t get any sleep. It would be worth checking where you cabin was in relation to the kennels!!
"Brittany Ferries superb, Direct Ferries not"
Having booked with Direct Ferries, I had an issue with my booking. It was effectively impossible to contact Direct Ferries remotely quickly. I had to contact Brittany Ferries, who were very helpful. The reviews below are ONLY for Brittany Ferries..
"Very Contrasting Experiences"
The Portsmouth/St Malo overnight leg was excellent. Had a great meal at the a la carte restaurant immediately after boarding. The catering on the St Malo/Portsmouth daytime leg was rubbish. The self-service restaurant had queues lasting forever, with only average food. The a la carte restaurant closed to serving breakfast at 11.30 am. We eventually used the self service restaurant at 3pm, after the queue had reduced.
"We paid to change our crossings by a day . The next day we arrived at the terminal in saint Marlo an"
Very very poor practice
"No issue"
All good beats Dover / Calais route if driving from the south. Nice relaxing sailing and efficient unloading
"Great crossing both ways "
We did a night crossing on route to Saint Malo and a day crossing on route back. Catering was great, but the ferry did need a bit more of a clean.
"Portsmouth to St Malo"
Ship was nice, facilities good, and sailed on-time. Spoiled by the haphazard approach to boarding. On the return trip, we were the 2nd car to arrive at the port, but for some reason we ended up being one of the last to board the ship, which meant we lost about 90 minutes of time actually leaving the port. For this reason, we won't be travelling with Brittany Ferries again.
"Absolute Rubbish"
Brittany Ferries are great. Direct Ferries are awful. Dont book with them. Impossible to get in touch.
"Short staffing is evident! "
The ferry was covered in litter. The toilets were appalling- goodness knows the last time they were cleaned. The only positive part was the staff coordinating vehicles whilst embarking and disembarking the ferry. They were very efficient. Such a shame the quality of cleanliness was so poor.
"Cross Chanel to St Malo "
I really enjoyed to sail to St Malo in Britain Ferries. The staff was very professional as well all the facilities in the Ferry.
"Disappointed "
The staff were very helpful. But the organisation for disembarking was confusing. Myself & another passenger had to ask several times what was happening. The prices of food & drinks was very expensive. Lack of choice of food & poor quality.
"Pleasant trip"
Everything went smoothly restaurant food very good
"Fwrry review"
The one comment we have is the breakfast. Very expensive for such a small portion!
"Inability to speak to anyone"
