Tips & Information for Viking Line

Viking Line

Viking Line provides year round daily crossings between Finland, the Aland Islands and Sweden, and between Helsinki and Estonia.

The on-board experience provided by Viking Line is widely known to be one of the best among ferry operators, and not just those in the Baltic Sea region. The team at Viking Line likes seeing customers enjoying themselves on their ships, with the ships providing ample entertainment, good food and drink, and great shopping opportunities aboard each vessel. And with a fleet of luxurious ships, it’s no surprise that more than 6 million people choose to travel over the Baltic Sea with Viking Line each year.

Viking Line was a pioneer in passenger travel between the Finnish mainland, the Aland Islands and Sweden, when operations began in 1959. Then, the amalgamation of 3 companies, Vikinglinjen Ab, Rederi AB Slite and Alandsfajan, resulted in the market-leading shipping company now known as Viking Line. Ever since, over 50 vessels have sailed in the iconic red and white Viking Line colours, ranging from modest, second-hand car ferries of the early years to the impressive, state-of-the-art ships used today.

Viking Line Customer Reviews

  • "Very Relaxing"

The trip could not have been easier, from checking in to boarding and eating in the buffet. It was all a pleasure!

  • "short satisfactory ferry trip"

Very busy getting onboard and it was difficult finding somewhere to sit for the duration of the crossing. Otherwise happy with the journey. The alcohol duty free shopping was amazing for choice.

  • "From Stockholm to Turku"

Pros: - spacious rooms as nice as any hotel rooms - comfortable beds and shower - well designed public areas that reflected the nautical as well as local setting Can be improved: - connection to port from city center. Wasn't very clear and was an uncomfortable 30 minute walk through a dusty construction site in the sun. If there was a shuttle available please make it more clear. - takeaway breakfast is prepackaged with no possibility for modification for vegetarian/vegans. Asked for a simple croissant instead of the obligatory ham cheese sandwich but staff said no, and had to throw it away

  • "Almost good entertainment "

Really brilliant pianist and singer, couldn’t understand why another singer with guitar started singing at the same time and had a similar repertoire, it created a really awful noise combined. They were both good singers.
