What to pack for a day trip

For day trips around the Greek islands, it's best to pack light. A small, secure backpack is ideal for carrying your essentials. Here are a few things we'd recommend bringing with you:

• Ferry tickets and ID: Make sure you have your ferry tickets with you, whether that’s a printed copy or on your phone. It’s also worth bringing some ID in case you’re required to show it before boarding the ferry.
• Swimwear and a towel: the beaches in Greece are beautiful, so don’t forget your swimwear. Even better, wear it under your clothes to save space in your bag. A quick-drying travel towel is also a great option.
• Sun protection: The Greek islands can get extremely hot, especially between June and September. Make sure you bring suncream, sunglasses and a hat to stay protected whilst waiting to board ferries or exploring towns.
• Water: We’d recommend bringing a bottle of water. You could be waiting in the sun for your ferry and in some cases, you may not be able to buy water on board.
• Comfortable footwear: If you plan on exploring an island by foot, comfy shoes are a must. A lot of Greek islands have steep cobbled streets so supportive footwear will make it much easier to walk around.
• First-aid kit: A mini first aid kit is always a good idea for a day trip. Don’t forget plasters, seasickness tablets, paracetamol and any other medication you might need. Hand sanitiser is also useful.
• Portable charger: A portable power bank is a must-have, especially if your ferry tickets are stored on your phone or if you plan on using Google Maps to find attractions.
