Ferry services serve the Port of Liverpool at several different locations and the nearest rail station varies according to which terminal is required. The ferry terminals are as follows:

Liverpool (PIER HEAD)

The Pier Head ferry terminal is for the Isle of Man Steam Packet (to Douglas IoM) ferry services. The nearest rail stations for this are the Liverpool City Centre stations including Liverpool Lime Street, Moorfields, Central and James Street. All of which are a short walk from the ferry terminal at Pier Head. Additionally there is an S2 / S3 FerryLink and City Centre Circular bus service which operates from Liverpool Lime Street station to Pier Head.

Liverpool (P&O Irish Sea ferry terminal)

The P&O Irish Sea ferry terminal is at Gladstone Dock and the nearest rail stations for this are the Liverpool City Centre stations including Liverpool Lime Street, Moorfields, Central and James Street. All of which are a short taxi ride from the P&O Irish Sea ferry terminal at Gladstone Dock.

Liverpool (Twelve Quays Birkenhead ferry terminal)

The Twelve Quays ferry terminal is for the Norfolk Line ferry services to Belfast and Dublin, Ireland. The nearest rail station for this ferry terminal is Hamilton Square (Birkenhead) which is only a short walk away. Alternatively the Twelve Quays ferry terminal is a short taxi ride away from the Liverpool City Centre rail stations.

Liverpool Ferry Port by Bus

Local buses depart from a variety of terminals - Queen Square (for city centre, Pier Head and Chester services); Paradise Street Bus Station (southbound and a few northbound services); and St Thomas Street (eastbound and cross-river).

Liverpool Ferry Port by Coach

There is a frequent National Express service operating various coaches to Liverpool from around the UK. National Express Coaches use the station on Norton Street, northeast of Lime Street.
