  • "Excellent trip"

My family recently took our first day trip to the Isle of Wight, travelling between Lymington and Yarmouth. The facilities at Lymington were very good, clean with a Costa Coffee at the terminal, leading through to a lovely terrace overlooking the estuary. The queuing procedure was well organised but does depend on people being back in their cars at loading time, otherwise it causes delays for everyone. The ship was clean and the crossing very pleasant and only took 40 minutes. We stood on deck as the weather was good and there was plenty to see in the Solent. It was silly season for wasps which were buzzing around the waste bins, presenting a hazard for children. Parents beware! The return journey was just as efficient and this time we sat in the comfortable lounge, where there was plenty of seating and a great view. Very well organised and thoroughly recommended. Well done Wightlink!

No issues with Wight Link, my issue was with Direct Ferries them selves. Due to horrendous weather we decided we would rather come home earlier in the day, so we turned up at Fishbourne early and were told by the ticket office just to call direct ferries and they should be able to put us on an earlier ferry. However, I was put on hold for over half an hour, in this half an hour, spaces on the earlier ferries were disappearing rapidly so instead we ended up paying £60 to Wight link direct for an earlier booking. Why was I kept on hold for so long? Do we get any compensation for our unused ticket?
