Wightlink Ferries, with its predecessors, has been connecting the mainland with the Isle of Wight by ferry for over 160 years!
Wightlink Ferries have taken the service from its early pioneering days of steam travel to its present position sailing between the mainland and the Isle of Wight up to 150 times a day with 3 routes.
A modern fleet of car ferries sail from Lymington to Yarmouth and Portsmouth to Fishbourne while high-speed foot passenger catamarans operated on the Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier crossing.
Wightlink are the main link between the Isle of Wight and the mainland and every year carry over 4.8 million passengers. They provide Island residents with an easy and frequent service to the mainland, as well as giving millions of holidaymakers from all across the UK and beyond a taste of Island life.

"Do Isle of Wight residents get priority?"
Helpful on the way to Isle of Wight as we arrived just in time for the ferry before the one we were booked on and we were let on when we asked if it was possible to cross early. However, we were a bit disappointed by the blatant discrimination shown on our return journey. We were booked on the first ferry out in the morning and we arrived in the car park lanes a good 40 minutes or so before sailing time. After a few minutes a member of staff came over to check our booking and for the one other car that had already arrived. He asked us both to move our cars from lane 1 to 2 but gave no reason. When the car filled up and began loading onto the ferry the reason became all too apparent. We were let on last so that we disembarked last in Lymington. Presumably discrimination in favour of Isle of Wight residents? Not sure it makes it right though?

"A great start and end to our holiday!"
The whole process of getting on and off the ferry was really easy and well organised. The ports of both Lymington and Yarmouth are really nice and not intimidating like some of the bigger ferry ports.
