National Ferries Company Customer Reviews

  • "nothing corresponded to what was booked"

I had a reservation (prepaid) for the outward journey at 05.00 pm and one for the return at 09.00 am. by chance, I arrived, for the outward journey, at 2.50 pm (more than two hours in advance on the departure time) and I am told to get on immediately by car, because the ferry would have left at 03.00 pm and the subsequent races had all been canceled because of the strong wind. Nobody had contacted me in any way, by message or by mail or by phone. I went ashore, I go to have the return ticket issued and, although I had the return booked, paid and confirmed for 09.00 am, I am told that there never existed, for that day, a departure at 09.00 am and that the first departure was scheduled at 12.00, adding that with Direct Ferries it always happens that times are wrong! I let you imagine how bad I got there!

  • "Excellent and comfortable little ferry"

This is the 'swept-up' option for getting to and from Masirah Island. The alternative are landing craft that ply the same route and carry some private vehicles - but no idea as to how you would book or buy a ticket. When you arrive to get on the ferry stop at the terminal building before the causeway out to the harbour to get your ticket. They are very flexible with bookings so if you arrive early you may be able to get onto an earlier sailing, as we did. On boarding don't be surprised if you are asked to disembark foot passengers before you park up on the deck; this is simply as there isn't room for them to get out once all vehicles are packed in. Also families are segregated from single male passengers, in the best Muslim traditions. The ferries are modern, clean and operated to a high standard.
