Hirtshals Bergen Ferry reviews

  • "Perfect crossing"

Really enjoyed my recent trip from Denmark to Bergen, Norway. The journey started with a lovely meal in the Grieg restaurant. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Slept well in my well appointed cabin and arrived refreshed into Bergen. Will definitely use this line again!

  • "what a great trip"

from the moment i arrived at the terminal, where i was greeted by a very efficient assistant who invited me to upgrade to a cabin, till my disembarkation, the trip was wonderful. for euro 20, i went from an airline seat to a cabin. the cabins are cosy and comfortable. it was a temptation to enjoy the porthole, but i went to the viewing lounge and enjoyed a beverage, company and music. the views from the ship are magnificent. the staff are lovely. this is a trip not to be missed.

Hirtshals Guide

The port town of Hirtshals is on the coast of Skagerrak on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy, at the top of the Jutland Peninsular in northern Denmark. Known for its fishing and ferry port, the town's economy is heavily reliant on the fishing industry and on tourism, with many houses available to rent during the summer months. The ferries that use the town's port bring the tourists into the town which benefit the local shops. Particularly large numbers of Norwegians visit Hirtshals to shop all year round. One of Europe's largest aquariums, The Nordsoen Oceanarium, is located in the town and has over 70 different species in its collection.

The harbour is full of activities and the ambience is authentic. When visiting Hirtshals enjoy the natural surroundings which are ideal for many outdoor activities.

From the port, ferries can be taken to Bergen, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Langesund, Larvik, Seydisfjordur and Torshavn.

Bergen Guide

The city and port of Bergen is located on Norway's west coast, on the peninsular of Bergenhalvoyen, and is sometimes called the city of The Seven Mountains. As the gateway to the fjords, Bergen is an international city that is full of charm and history just waiting to be explored. The Norwegian Fjords are perhaps one of the world's most spectacular natural tourist attraction and have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There are a number of cultural institutions located in the city and are also popular with tourists. These include the Den Nationale Scene theatre, Grieg Hall concert venue and orchestras like as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. The city also hosts a number of festivals each year and includes the Bergen International Festival and the Bergen International Film Festival.

Bergen's port is the largest in Norway and is the southern terminus of Hurtigruten, the Coastal Express which operates daily services along the coast to Kirkenes. Ferry services from the port depart to Hirtshals in Denmark and to Haugesund, Stavanger, Sognefjord and Nordfjord.
