August Spanish air traffic control stike: Alternative options
Date: 04 Aug 2010 10:30 Source: Direct FerriesHundreds of thousands of holidaymakers face travel chaos later this month after Spanish air traffic controllers' voted to strike in August.
With the prospect of cancelled flights and long delays, alternative routes to Spain by ferry are listed below:
Brittany Ferries run the Portsmouth Santander Ferry service (3 weekly, 24 hour crossing) and the Plymouth Santander Ferry service (1 weekly on Sundays, 20 hour crossing).
P&O ferries run the Portsmouth Bilbao Ferry service (3 weekly, 33 hour crossing).
Domestic Spanish ferry services as well as crossings to and from North Africa are run by Trasmediterranea and Balearia. Trasmediterranea also operate ferry crossings to and from the Canary Islands.
