Tirrenia

Tirrenia was founded in 1936 as a result of the nationalization of many privately owned Italian ferry companies

In the present day, Tirrenia connects the Italian mainland to Sardinia, Sicily, the Tremiti islands and Albania and as a group is currently one of the largest ship owners in Europe.

Tirrenia di Navigazione ferries make a large number of crossings every year. With a fleet consisting mainly of new high speed super ferries you’ll reach your destination in ultimate comfort and in record time.

The Tirrenia route network consists of ferry connections from mainland Italy to Sardinia (9 routes), mainland Italy to Sicily, Sicily to Sardinia, Italy to Albania and up to 5 routes connecting mainland Italy and the Tremiti Islands.

With around ninety ships in their fleet, the Tirrenia Group makes sixty thousand ferry crossings, travels four million miles, welcomes thirteen million passengers on board, and transports two million accompanying cars and five hundred thousand linear metres of freight annually.

The entire Tirrenia Fleet has uniform cruise quality interior designing and a 3 to 4 years old average ship age, amongst the lowest in the Mediterranean.

On the most popular routes, Tirrenia Ferries can carry up to 2,700 passengers and 900 cars, reaching speeds of up to 30 knots.

On board a Tirrenia ferry you will find all the usual amenities expected of one of the finest ferry companies in Europe.

Try the Piano Bar for a quick snack between meals or head for the armchairs or the big sofas for the comfortable option!

In the shopping area on board most Tirrenia ferries you’ll find gadgets, souvenir, games and much more.

On some of the longer crossings, take advantage of the on board Cinema with ticket prices form only 4 Euros.

For the children there is now a play area at the centre of the entertainment deck, aboard all the high-speed superferries (Athara, Bithia, Janas, Nuraghes, Sharden) which make the journey even more pleasurable, especially for parents.

Tirrenia also provide a choice of restaurant from self service to a la carte. In the main restaurant you will find a menu with a rich variety of local Mediterranean cuisine that you can combine with various wines of the different Italian regions.

The Tirrenia self service restaurant provides a variety of options and cuisines, at low prices in a comfortable atmosphere.
