Fast Ferries to link North Devon and South Wales
Date: 03 Nov 2009 00:00 Source: Severn LinkSevern link, the ferry services provider, has announced its intention to provide a fast ferry service on the North Devon to South Wales route in the near future.
A speedy catamaran service will link the route between the two destinations, reducing travel time to just 50 minutes. Up until now, it has taken travellers a few hours to make this crossing, every time they’ve hopped on a ferry at either port.
With the introduction of the fast-cat service by Severn Link, travellers will find that they have an increased amount of time to spend at their destination, and can indulge in more activities than previously possible.
The speedy service between Devon and Wales would be a major boost to the UK travel industry, which like its counterparts all over the world, has taken a beating during the recession.
Founder of Severn Link, Chris Marrow has said that while he has started a similar speedy service in other parts of the world, he has eyed the Bristol Channel as a route that could benefit from speedy ferry crossings.
Marrow says this would be a good time to introduce the service, as an increasing number of Britons have been choosing to holiday within the UK in the last few months. Marrow believes this new service will boost UK’s travel portfolio, and the announcement has been welcomed by many. It is expected that the service will bring increased tourism to the locations, and create hundreds of much needed jobs at both ends.
