On 21st January 2011 the largest ferry operating on the English Channel will be enter service.
P&O Ferries new vessel ‘the Spirit of Britain’ will be able to carry 195 cars, 180 lorries and 1,750 passengers. It will be joined in the future by its sister vessel - the ‘Spirit of France’.
The construction and design of these ships uses the newest and most advanced technology, paying special attention to environmental safety and solutions. P&O Ferries chief executive Helen Deeble said that the two vessels represent a major investment of over €360 million by the company and are designed for a 25-year lifespan, so they are viewing this for the long-term.
The Dover Calais ferry route is P&O Ferries most popular crossing with up to 46 sailings a day. Dover ferry port is easily reached by car, train or coach and from Calais ferry port you can easily access a number of road and rail networks that will take you to the very heart of Europe and beyond.
Each ferry crossing to France takes on average 90 minutes, making it a fast and comfortable way to get to the continent without the stress and aggravation of flying.
Onboard you will find an international food court, bar and cafe, discounted shopping, Langan’s Brasserie, games room, family lounge, Bureau de Change and exclusive Club Lounge.
P&O Ferries are currently offering trips across the channel for as little as £39 each way for a car and up to 9 passengers.
Leading ferry ticket aggregator Direct Ferries has launched a new ferry booking system for travel agents allowing them to make reservations and manage bookings across a vast route network on behalf of their customers.
