"Holyhead to Dublin"
Ferry on time, boarding etc was well organised. Let down by catering, luke warm food, soggy toast. it felt as if we were pushed through quickly with food clearly prepared much earlier. Will take our own food next time.i would give 3/10 to irish ferries compared to 6/10 for recent trips with Stena with regard to catering.
"Poor vessel "
Advised when check in, ship circa 45 mins delay. Was actually over 1.5 hrs and would of been handy to of been notified prior by email. Also this ferry is way under par compared with your other fleet.
"Not good"
Cannot amend the ticket, worst experience
"Mixed crossings"
The outbound crossing was on the Epsilon. The crossing was rough and due to the Epsilon being relatively small the ferry was dipping and pitching significantly for about 2 hours. As a result where lots of people with sea sickness, crockery smashing and big waves smashing against the ship. The return crossing on the Ulysses was completely different. It is a much larger ferry and the crossing was calm possibly due to the boat size. My advice is don’t book onto Epsilon if the forecast is rough!!
" ❣️❣️❣️❣️"
Very good service. No hassle. The checkin was quick and boarding and out both so quick. The ferries were very handy.
"Return Ferry "
Going out to Ireland on the Swift boat was excellent. Good facilities and a well stocked duty free shop. The return journey was completely the opposite. Poor facilities, poor seating, very noisy, lots of cordoned off areas, so all passengers squeezed into small space. Not enjoyable.
"Irish Ferries Holyhead/Dublin"
We travelled on 24th Sept to Dublin and the service was punctual, and efficient, and the ship (?Ulysses?) was clean with plenty of facilities. Our return on 3rd Oct on the Epsilon was delayed (and no real explanation was given), the staff seemed under-trained, the cleanliness was only average and the facilities far less good, as rated below
"Customer and consumer rights "
1. We booked with direct ferries who has a website engineered to gain the maximum money from their customers by not permitting g the customer to select the travel details they require . Once booked you are not permitted to cancel for a refund and zero cooling off time is given . An example of this is where we were asked if we wanted to travel by car which we chose to do but the vehicle we wished to travel with had mr been chosen at the time of booking . Unfortunately our Honda car was not in commission and we wished to change to a commercial vehicle which we own . When we went to change the vehicle we were advised that the change would have to be sanctioned by isish ferries and we would re rice an email with the addition . The booming procedure indicates a nominal amount of 1 cent to change but this was not confirmed by email . We attempted to cancel the booking within minutes of the booking in order to rebook . This was refused by direct ferries. When we arrived at the Ulysses boat we were asked to visit the booking office where the fare was increased from €366 . We thought the nominal increase of a few cents was to apply . Not to be the case . Irish ferries said we could not board the ship until we paid an additional €240 euro on top of the € 366 euro already paid . Security checked our vehicle which was empty bar two brief cases which we had our laptops in . Soon after we boarded we received an email from direct ferries saying that they noted we were on board and they wanted to demand more money for the return trip . When we were reading the email and responding we received a notification from voda phone that there was an additional fee of €60 euro for using our phone as we were using the data whilst on the ship . Even though direct ferries knew we had paid the additional fee to Irish ferries , they were not aware that we had the additional fee was for a return trip , ferries direct attempted to further fraudulently charge yet a further fee for the return trip . This entire episode was totally unsatisfactory and in breach of the consumer protection act . To add insult to injury , our outbound trip was on the Ulysses ship which we found the facilities on board to be satisfactory but the return trip was on a freighter called Epsion with no lounge area for relaxation . The entire experience was a disaster .
"Easy to use"
I booked the day before I travelled as I wasnt sure I would be taking the car or a motorbike. In the end I took the motorbike (although the weather wasnt very kind) and sailed on the Epsilon going over and the Swift on the way back. Easy to book and only had to be there half an hour before sailing with Irish Ferries. Have used in the passed and will use again. The Epsilon is a bit basic but its got seating and hot food, The Swift is a bit better with the seating and quicker so if your budget allows, go for the Swift.
"Holyhead to Dublin"
Fast loading and unloading with facilities and cleanliness excellent.
"Epsilon-awful "
The Epsilon is a dated ship. We boarded late, but I expect that was due to the number of goods vehicles being loaded-a previous ferry was cancelled. Got keys to our cabin but toilet didn’t flush! Moved to another. Rather grubby, soap dispenser out of action, not UK style power points at all, all continental. I believe the ferry may have been on a French route first as signage English/ French. Slow disembarking too. Won’t use again.
"Disaster "
Not a regular traveler on this route, booked Dublin to Holyhead return and club lounge just presumed that meant both ways! Only club lounge going, return journey appeared to be a freight ferry. This wasn’t made clear to me when I booked, would nit travel with direct ferries again and at a price of £460 to be crammed into a small ferry with only a very small cafe and one man serving, who couldn’t work the till or take an order, the food queue was 50 deep in the first five minutes and even without the queue you couldn’t get served. Four ladies toilets for 500? That isn’t clean, and yes if people appreciate a budget oassag3 it should be priced at that and not nearly £500 for a 2.5 hour passage. I have taken this route ten times in 15 years, very very very disappointed
"All ok"
All went ok and as planned, just watch when changing details, you don't get over charged. I did get a refund, after a while.
"Trip to Ireland and back."
Great service apart from the lack of locks in the gents loos. Also a slightly confusing menu board!
"Efficient and competent"
travelled in comfort. good seating. lovely friendly staff. very efficient. prompt departure. arrived on time. Irish Ferries always good.Clean, lots of facilities.
"Irish Sea crossing"
Delayed coming home no information, facilities on board poor catering was expensive and awful food, watch staff secure rope in port they did not seem to know what they were doing, in general would go with stena line next time
"Use of Flexi ticket "
Contacted you to change my ferry time but you replied you couldn't help needed to be done by Irish Ferries. Spent the day trying to resolve this (poor Internet access where we were staying) couldn't contact IF by phone. In the end you did resolve it but the wait in-between was quite stressful
"mixed experience"
holihead to dublin trip was good, dublin to holyhead was poor. car on open deck covered in salt spray. seating uncomfortably hard for 3.5hours. duty free shop very poor
"The start and end of our holiday"
The boat on the way out was more for freight than car passengers and was okay but not great. On the way back we were on the sea cat and had the club class which was all very nice. The rest of the ship looked like it had plenty of facilities.
"Dublin"

"Fantastic ferry company "
As always irish ferries make the journey magic with there luxury ships and friendly helpful staff. I love sailing with irish ferries
"Ulysses "
Easy efficient check in, lovely ship, has lifts if you have difficulty on stairs
"Disappointed "
Very disappointed that the reclining room is not supervised better. We endured a trip with a very very rowdy family of 6 youngsters running around around and making a din for the whole trip. They were even trying to run between the seats. And a bloke smoking a e-cig
"Northern Ireland tour"
Really punctual, easy to board and disembark good service
"Great trip"
Great trip helpful staff quick effortless boarding and leaving.
"Avoid "
Staff are rude and ignorant. Woman behind the bar (22/08/22) had no manners at all, rude, didn’t seem she wanted to be there whatsoever. Male receptionist was arrogant and rude. Only friendly staff member we came across was the male cleaner. The staff are an insult to any company. All the rooms were taken and there wasn’t anywhere to sit due to people laying down on the seats and taking up all the room. We have two infants and was nothing for them to do. Prices were extortionate €50 for breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids. Can kind of expect ridiculous prices but the food was poor. Overall absolute rip off surprise they don’t charge to use the toilet. Will never use Irish ferries again.
"Sailing "
Everting was perfect there and the return, set sail spot on time! Staff getting cars on and off were excellent. The only issues I have was the food was expensive & awful!!!
"Recent trip"
Stena journey was great. Although like everything else prices have rocketed.
"No information till to late"
Are ferry was cancelled 150pm ,we got the 805am instead, but this wasn’t to thanks from direct ferry’s we found out from people telling us, direct ferry’s text us about the cancellation when we where near Holyhead ,I have no problem with Irish ferries.
"Thank tou"
I received a text the day before I was due to sail advising me to get to the port earlier because of the busy holiday period. When I was checking in I was advised that payment for the sailing had not been received. I followed the advice given and went to the office in the port. The person who directed me from the check-in booth and the person who dealt with the issue in the office were calm and reassuring. It was confirmed that so had paid and I was given an apology by both persons involved. There were 2 other families in front of me in the office. I am not aware of their concerns but they were engaged in a civil conversation with the person they were assigned to for assistance. They happened to be sat near me in the ship and did not make reference to their issues. I think that this was due to the way in which the personnel at the port communicate with the customers. The boarding and disembarkation of the ship was conducted very smoothly.
"Holiday "
The prices on board for breakfast etc were ridiculous, getting on and off was pretty good. We had to change our ferry home because of a family emergency and had spend nearly the whole day before trying to get it sorted, we eventually did and got charged €68 for the privilege and an apology email. I will not travel with Irish ferries again
"Excellent service "
I was a solo female of 75 years and found the trip with Irish ferries excellent, I was nervous driving my car into the ferry, but the staff were great
"Elderly solo traveller"
I was nervous about driving my car up the ramps but the staff were very patient with me
"Bad experience "
Service and sales round not very existing
