With a great choice of places to eat and drink as well as a shop, you'll also find a club lounge, kids play zone and comfortable seating areas.
There are no passenger cabins however seating is available in the club class lounge. Pre-book to enjoy a touch of luxury including a complimentary glass of champagne, tea, coffee, soft drinks and newspapers – all served by friendly stewards.
There's a choice of places to eat and drink onboard to suit all tastes and budgets. If you are travelling with the family then head to the Food Court, serving exciting cuisine from around the world. If you prefer to dine in style, why not try The Brasserie, with the highest quality food and wine served to your table. There's also a Costa Coffee serving light snacks and pastries and a wide range of hot and cold drinks.
There are some great bargains to be had in the onboard shops with literally hundreds of products considerably cheaper than you can find anywhere on the high street.
You’ll also find Video games arcade, wifi, a commission free bureau de change and an ATM machine with an E Top up facility.
Keeping children happy during the ferry crossing is something P&O Ferries take seriously. Onboard you'll find a variety of play areas and activities and kids menu's in the eating area.
If notified or requested staff will meet and assist customers with wheelchairs on the vehicle deck. All shopping, dining and seating areas are wheelchair friendly.

Despite the long waitingline at customs before departure in Calais, that made us miss our boat, we could embark easily on the next boat. At our return, we were too late due to traffic jam, but we could still embark in the latest minutes, thanks to a very fluent customs control.

I travel to France alot with my job and for private reasons alot and over the years iv seen a change. P&O was a great company back in the 00s and then they started to lack on friendly staff and the food wasn't so good. The food was like rubber and very over priced. Since the big change again iv noticed a change. Now the staff are friendly and the vessels are kept clean to a high standard it's all done really well and the food is really nice. Keep up the good work P&O

"Bad service"
We were booked to sail 4/10 2022 from Hull to Rotterdam but due to illness in the family we wanted to chance our booking to an earlier departure. We tried several times to change our booking using our correct booking number, but every time we were told, that no such booking existed. In despair we had to book and pay for another sailing from Harwich. It is terribly distressing when you can’t get in touch with the company. We tried to write but no response, only to be told again and again that our booking didn’t exist. The fact that you ask for a review must mean that our booking did exist!!!

The crossing was ok. The ferry was ok. The food on offer though is something totally different. We paid an extortionate price for two breakfast wraps that were totally disgusting. Powdered egg, tiny bits of bacon, one sausage cut into strips and a limp wrap. Surely you can do better than this?

The return trip was managed efficiently even taking in consideration the boat departure schedule changes that were made on the day of return sailing. There seem to be a little disconnect between the operational it systems used as the officer completing check-in procedure wasn’t aware of the most up to date sailing schedules. However the alternative arrangements were made quickly to accommodate extra passengers on the different boat and we all reached home safely. Thank you very much!

P&O totally failed in my opinion with this journey. A message in the morning warns of 2 hour question. On arrival at the port there is a large que with not staff organising and the que then spills over so people who have arrived later now get in further down. 7 hours it took to get through passport control. 7 hours of not being able to take my young daughter to the toilet as it’s just the 2 of us. I then discover that p&O had started telling people to arrive 3 hours early. So I was there for my 5pm ferry at the same time as people who were on 7pm and later ferries. We did not get on a ferry till 1am. It just wasn’t good enough

"What a terrible experience "
We arrived at Calais ferry port at 12.15 for the 13.55 crossing. We were second in the queue just on car ahead. Lane 239 we were told. We passed through and then joined the small queue for the French document check. Again no problem. We then joined the queue for the UK border control. This queue was barely moving. In all we sat in the queue for 3 hours. People were having to urinate on the road . The UK four border booths were so slow. At the booth we were asked if there were only two people in the car, then the operative said are ... Our names reading from our passports and then then he studied the pictures asked no other questions and after about 10 minutes handed the passports back. We were then searched and then sent on our way. We arrived at the ferry and loaded immediately, we just happen to pass the customer services desk on the boat so I asked what was the reason for the delay and why had the checks taken so long. We then discovered that the ferry we had booked had sailed even though we had checked in on time. We were in fact on a different ferry. We were told that the reason for the delay was that the French port has denied access to fueling. This was obviously a standard excuse. I asked that if this was the case how come both the ferry we were on and the one that we were booked on had both sailed on time. The excuse was repeated. I pointed out the issue with UK border checks, but apparently this was not the problem it was fuelling. The whole checking in process was a border check process was a total farce. Not the ferry companies fa. It was shameful that the French port was being blamed I will be writing to them to inform them of the issues. Finally on board the ferry there are large signs stating that duty free allowances have increased. This simply is not true,

Our ferry trip out from Dover to Calais was good and problem free; however on the return from Calais to Dover the was a massive delay (8 hours!) due to UK Border Control as only 4 staff available to check passports; it completely ruined the end of our holiday as we did not get home till 4.30am. The knock on effect of that was two of our children could not play in their football matches the following day. This is nothing to do with P & O and we were grateful for the food and drnks that were available when we finally boarded the ferry at 1am having originally arrived at 4.15pm for our sailing.

My only criticism, on the way home it took over and hour to check in and there was only 8 vehicles in front. When we got there it appeared the member of staff just liked a chat!!

Outbound from Dover was delayed and back was on time. The ships staff were trying hard bless them, but the announcements by EAL staff were indecipherable. On the way back we were kept waiting in the stairwell as the staff did not open the stair exits which was extremely dangerous as we were all crammed into the stairways for over 15 minutes. Would not sail with this company becuase of what they have done with their staff - too risky.

Dear Narender , thank you for your response. I have emailed the help desk at 14 August. I got a reply that due to numbers of request I would receive an reply within 5 days. I got back yesterday and email the helpdesk for the second time. Direct Ferries cannot charge £245 ,- for amending a different car. This is ridiculous. As in the policy it's mentioned changes will cost £10,-. Please help , and solve this issue.

The ship was absolutely disgusting, dirty. My granddaughter took her shoes off while we were eating and cut her foot on glass, was pouring with blood, she is 9 years old we asked for a plaster and was told go to duty free and buy one! We were followed round the cafe like we were thrives. I'm not joking it was horrendous.

Our return trip from Calais was delayed due to an incident involving a bus but the big screens were not working and there was no communication explaining the delay. The screens should also be used to inform waiting drivers to keep their engines off until it was time to go to help reduce fossil fuel uses and to reinforce sustainability targets. The facilities (shop for food) was limited to a small number of vending machines which was poor, and surely a missed opportunity

Travelled with my disabled granddaughter whoo found 4 disabled toilets out of use. When she finally found a member of staff to help she had to xall someone to help as the door didn't close. Wont travel again with P&O. Very sad great

It has been a long time since we have taken a cross channel ferry. We are more used to long crossings with Brittany Ferries at a vastly greater cost. First of all, it was mMUCH cheaper than the tunnel so it made sense to use it. But good grief the ferry was tired and frankly not very clean.

"Poor show"
The good breakfast has gone, just packets of sandwiches. Waited in Calais for 2 hours in searing heat as boat failed, but nobody informed waiting passengers. Eventually trailed around Calais docks following a van and found another P&O boat. The van lost several of the cars. That was my last trip on P&O.

"Confusing"
Booking very easy, only problem was that we were asked to add pre passenger information before arrival at the ferry by clicking on the link in the confirmation email, but could not do this having booked onto a P&O ferry through a third party. This took time to find out and added stress. I suggest this is amended. Arrival at the terminal and boarding the ferry was very smooth - a well oiled machine.

I spent a lot of time and went through a lot of stress trying to do the Advance Passenger Information that was suppose to be law. I used your link to do this but it kept saying that my booking code was incorrect. I went to the port ferry not knowing if we would be allowed to board but the staff said nothing about it! Limited sailings so our crossings were changed from 6.30 to 4.00 then 3.00 and 20.30 to 22.05, restaurants are not open, staff in bar are very slow and many items unavailable, does not give you confidence and can see why the boats were not allowed to sail.

"Very poor communication "
During storm Eunice and ahead of my scheduled journey home I tried to get in touch to get information on any possible delays. A voice mail said that offices had closed early and no one was responding to my emails, there was no update on their website and their Twitter feed was down! Several hours before my journey I got through and was told all was fine and boats were on schedule. 1 hour before my journey I got a txt informing me of minor delays! We were delayed by 4 hours! Staff on board confirmed that these delays were in existence since the day before! I had a flexi ticket and would have planned differently if P&O had been honest from the beginning! (They clearly didn't want me to take an alternative means home and put their needs before their passengers).

"Calais - Dover in 75 mph winds"
Very difficult to judge the "cleanliness" of the ship when there's vomit coming in torrents across the floor but when they weren’t joining in with the vomiting themselves the staff seemed to be making every effort to clean it up. Not sure who started it but within the vomiting melee that was going on throughout the crossing my kids saw a child vomit into his father’s face and before she’d finished he’d started to vomit back at her. P&O possibly need to look at a different floor covering to increase grip, sick on the floor and a bucking boat made for a fairly high risk environment...

"Immigrant problem"
On the last day of our holiday we needed to come to Calais two days before to take lateral test . Most of the campsites are closed in Calais . When we went to shopping with our motor home three immigrants got into our motorhome boot This terrifying experience will never let me stay in Calais in future. In Calais poor signs at the port. Luckily we were helped by the French custom office who let us follow his car. General facilities are good in the ship. But something has to be gone to tackle the immigrants so customer feel safe. French police should be more on the streets.

We've made two crossings between Dover and Calais in both October and November. The weather was kind to us with 'millpond' conditions on all four crossings. I wish I could thank P&O for this, but of course it's probably beyond even their purview! But P&O has been extremely helpful to us on the crossings, by boarding and parking us next to a lift to facilitate easy access for us to the passenger decks. We are extremely grateful for this kind consideration. Thank you, P&O.

we have not been able to use the ticket for going to dover . We have paid for a ticket for the van and 2 people but because there was a carnet present , the ticket could not be used . we had to rebook a new ticket . Can we have our money back of the unused ticket ?

"Not happy"
I booked my travel through Direct Ferries. I cancelled all my travel plans 17 days ago on or around the 13th March. I did this online and it was due to my worries about the coronavirus. I still have not received a refund nor any confirmation that it is being dealt with. I phoned P&O who told me they could not help as it was booked through Direct Ferries. Direct Ferries are not answering calls due to the virus. I have emailed them asking for confirmation of refund and still have not had a response. While I realise they are having to deal with many requests, my cancellation was made before any travel restrictions were put in place and I would have thought it courteous to have received a breif acknowledgement that it would be dealt with.

"Days of gale force winds"
I love going on ferries, but we were unlucky that there were strong winds and long delays. Not P&O fault. BUT - the only information available was through twitter - if you are not on internet than you are left in the blank. P&O ferries says that it is down to the Calais/Dover port to update the info on the screens. Well, it is up to P&O ferries to make sure that this happens. - the queue were unregulated at times: again P&O ferries says that it is down to the Calais/Dover. It still reflects badly on ferry transportation. The voucher for food was nice, but you could only use it on the ferry - not while you are waiting at the port, stranded. So all in all, not a bad experience but I will try to use the tunnel the next time.

"Poor organisation of P and O ferries"
Whilst travelling back to Dover from Calais on 22nd Feb, we had a 7.5 hour wait for our ferry. Whilst this was explained as bad weather conditions and I appreciate this, I also know from this trip and previous ones that organisation at the ferry port is a nightmare! As the port has both P and O and DFDS ferries, when you arrive there is no way to organise cars into lanes so that the P and O cars go one way and the DFDS cars go another. So as a consequence, you get people who attempt to move cars for DFDS lane through a deluge of P and O cars and this is practically impossible and a great frustration. Also, in our very prolonged waiting time, until you get past the last checkin there is no where to go to the toilet or get a drink. If these delays are inevitable, then these facilities need to be installed.

"Poor planning"
The Calais-Dover leg of the trip was pretty poor. The website advised delays of an hour due to high winds. On the event, the delay was closer to three hours. We were given vouchers for food onboard as a form of compensation but, on heading to the restaurant as soon as we boarded, the queue was enormous. There wasn't enough food available and people were waiting for long periods as we were continually promised more was "just on its way". The only options were meat pie, chicken and chips or vegetable curry. I waited 15 mins for a batch of curry to make an appearance. There was enough in the bowl for 5 portions and then the poor people behind me in the queue had to stand around and wait again for more to be made. The staff said it had been just as bad the day before. Given that, and that hundreds of vouchers had been handed out for an absolutely packed crossing, I would have thought P&O might have twigged that they'd have a fair bit of demand and perhaps packed the right amount of food.

"Carnage at Calais"
Booked on the 2035, arrived at Calais at 1930 and finally got onboard the 0445 crossing. Took four hours alone to drive the last mile to border control. No clear explanation of the cause of the delay, no meaningful apology and complete chaos with the boarding process. Border control blamed over booking, P&O blamed the storm (which hadn’t started) and I am still none the wiser. Terrible end to the holiday.

"Can’t blame everything on the weather!"
Yes it was windy and yes I understand safety is a priority. The adverse weather doesn’t prevent P&O from keeping customers informed in a timely and effective manner, providing adequate toilet/ food facilities as a contingency, and decent food when finally we were able to board 5 hours late. Felt like cattle not customers. My advice - avoid the ferry during winter months especially if you have a young family. I shall NEVER use this means to cross the channel again.

"Great service despite choppy waters!"
I arrived at Dover to see the waves smashing against the rocks, not looking forward to this crossing. Despite the not great journey due to weather as always I found the staff friendly, we were two hours early and we were put on the next available ferry not told to wait. The ship was clean service great, the guys on the ground and below deck always helpful and efficient despite challenges such as broken down buses and demanding passengers. They all do an amazing job even if I did drive off looking a little green thanks to the channel!

"Economic travel "
P and O will continue to get it right if the price from Dover to Calais/Calais to Dover stays on or below £50. it’s a quick journey and the ferry’s are compact. I think the food was expensive for what it was, but like I said, it’s an economic and quick turnaround of passengers. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend P and O to anyone looking for cheap travel into Europe. Thanks

I’ve booked on the app and thought I had booked for two passengers. But after that it said I don’t use it for one but wouldn’t let me add a second passenger. At this point I assumed that there must be a driver included in the car booking plus one passenger. I wanna talk to the terminal I was told there was only one person allowed to travel. At this point it was too late to change it online and I tried to charge me £35 to change it on the phone. In the end they charge me £10 but it was still wrong. This is not the fault of P&O but the thought of direct ferries

"P&O was cheapest, not the best"
Outdated Club Lounge, cramped furniture and chairs, no plugs and crew having full on convos in the lounge. Looking for peace and quiet? Don’t use the lounge, that crossing was a joke. Might as well have stayed in main areas and not paid for the Lounge. I’m sure there are more plugs out there and possibly more peace and quiet out there. I had the crew in the lounge thinking that because it wasn’t packed they could have their snacks and a loud and full on personal conversation right in the passenger space for us to hear. Seriously?

"Ferry Service :Excellent , UK Customs : a SHAMBLES !"
The P&O service on the whole cannot be faulted. The processing was swift and carried out by friendly and efficient staff. The big let-down was UK customs. On a day/weekend, when it was highly likely, that a large number of travelers would be returning to the UK, the customs were not at all prepared. Cars piled up in huge numbers at Calais and despite arriving way ahead of time, many missed their scheduled crossings. The reason : out of 14 processing booths, only 3 (then 4) were manned. Retired personnel were working because UK customs once again failed to get their act together. We have not even a completed Brexit yet, what is it going to be like when the real chaos starts ??? UK government & UK Customs match each other on incompetence !

Good news - we were early enough to get on the earlier ferry. Bad news - it left 37 minutes late. I would recommend Direct Ferries to compare prices and times, but not any specific ferry company. They are much the same.

The outbound trip to Calais was good and very easy . The inbound to dover another matter . 2 hours in slow moving queues to get through passport control only a few windows were open despite it being busy . The toilets on the boat were filthy and over flowing with urine and paper. Duty free was rather expensive too . We had a meal and the chips were hard and inedible .

"Could do with a clean"
This is an older ferry, but that is no reason for the toilets to look the way they do. I realise we traveled during a busy time, and the French strikes were on so this may have affected staffing levels, but the ferry is quite dirty. We ate in the bistro, and there was only one chef on so no Christmas menu which was a bit disappointing. We have always found the procedure of getting on and off the ferry really well organised, and staff on board helpful. Booking the ferry is easy, and updates on impending departure dates is good. The only downside for us is the disgusting state of the toilets, which could no doubt he helped by customers not having the hygiene habits of warthogs. I see on some previous review sites that the ferry is referred to as the 'Shame of Canterbury" due to its state of cleanliness, and that was back on 2015, so obviously P&O don't worry about reviews. Which ferry you get is a bit of a lottery - some have wifi, some are clean so you cannot have everything.

"The cheapest, but.."
-It was the cheapest I could find online, but I couldn't enjoy myself onboard. In the seating areas it was full of romanians sleeping everywhere with their feet on the tables, no shoes, the air inside was stinky I have even seen someone in a sleeping bag in front of the lift. The situation was worse towards England. I know this is not the company's fault, but because of this uncomfortable situation I would rather pay more and take the train next time. +The staff is really nice and we liked the duty free shop. Boarding and leaving went smoothly and fast. Toilets were clean.

"My Experience with P&O"
I have traveled with P&O for as long as I can remember. It is one of convenience. The actual service is good. However One point I would like to make is it is good customer relations when you arrive for your crossing, particularly returning, some times few hours ahead, it is good to let you board early. I have faced many delays and have not complained. Even the outbound was 45 minutes late, but we were allowed to board on the return at 17:55 instead of 18:55. I have used the Le shuttle as well and the choice is one of convenience. By the time you factored in a meal, the time saving is not that different. P & O also gains by allowing the spare spaces to be filled which means the following sailing has additional capacity. It may be possible to save a crossing later in the day by rescheduling. They can let customers know by SMS texts.So every one is a winner.

"A disappointing trip"
The outbound trip was ok, other than the Brasserie restaurant having a new menu with no instructions for the chef, and so a dish that was meant to have leeks and lentils came with Mediterranean vegetables. This may seem like a small gripe, but there was no explanation from the waiting staff and no warning that this was not going to be as published. On the way back, there were delays about which we knew nothing in spite of checking twitter, and had to wait for 90 minutes at the ferry terminal. Not a good place to be. Then, the menu gremlin struck again. A pudding choice came with apples and lumpy custard rather than the advertised fruit coulis and cream (I'm allergic to apples and wouldn't have eaten the custard anyway). I sent it back and got no apology, no further service from the grumpy staff, and had to pay full price for the main course, having had the fixed price menu option removed from the bill. Most unhappy.

"Difficult trip"
Due to a security alert at Dover in the early morning this return trip to Calais was dreadful. Through no real fault of P&O.. but I would like to point out having driven to the Port and being stuck at check in for over an hour and a half with absolutely no toilet facilities available until you are on “the lanes” is particularly excruciating. Once things got moving the poor girl in our check in booth was fielding the windows on both sides single handedly and all praise to her, sadly I do not have her name. The handing out of refreshments vouchers appeared random and we didn’t receive ours.

Booked a last minute trip to France through direct ferries, Yes the prices looked great, Yes you can compare all the sailings at once and yes it’s pretty straight forward to use. But I don’t expect to receive my confirmation email with completely different sailing times to the ones I had selected, and when I called up to find out why this was, the blame was being put down to me and my so called incompetence! Absolutely rude! Travelling back to Calais we ended up getting caught with traffic from a accident, called up to see if we could change the time of out return journey - full well knowing we would have to pay which wasn’t a issue! I was put on hold for longer than I atcually spoke to someone, and was advised I wasn’t able to change due to the “ticket deal” I had paid for, the one I wasn’t aware of, and wasn’t stated on the confirmation! Overall wouldn’t used direct ferries ever again! Book direct with Ferry companies, so much easier! P&O themselves couldn’t have done more for us, the ships were lovely and the staff went above and beyond!

"Comfort and Service as we cross the Channel"
Check in and customs straightforward and quick. Club Lounge - great service and reasonable food if you need a bite to eat. Enjoyed the complimentary champers, tea, coffee etc and Sunday papers on the way home. Would definitely travel again with P and O - the only downside - the appalling state of the motorway network when we got home - what a contrast to travel in France. Constant speed restrictions, jams, roadworks and contraflows all the way from Dover to west of Reading made the homeward journey a real pain and make us wonder if we will fly and rent a car next time.

"Start of holiday"
For me, my holiday starts as I queue to board. It was a lightly used service so I was able to get my breakfast without queueing, so I had a tasty freshly cooked breakfast, couple of cups of coffee and a real relaxing start to the driving to come.

"Hassle free crossing "
After arriving early we were immediately offered an earlier ferry at no extra cost, so happily took it. The crossing process involved driving straight onto the main deck, which was very close to the door for the upper decks. Whilst once at our destination we were straight off and quickly on with your journey. When using the upper decks I found them to be tidy and clean, with sufficient seating for everyone both inside and out. I didn’t eat I’m afraid, so can’t comment on the food. Good value for money overall.

"What fun crossing the channel used to be!"
I found the whole experience disturbing. I cannot fault the staff the ones I dealt with were great. However the standard of the boat left a lot to be desired. I appreciate your turnaround is quick but the boat was shabby and sad looking, rather like the majority of the passengers. It was not a pleasant experience and certainly not enjoyable I maybe the tunnel looks a better option.

"Choppy waters"
The ship is fine - what we expected. The delay was a nuisance but the real problem is getting information to customers. In this day and age, it shouldn't be such a problem. The radio traffic report said no delays to ferries as we approached the port. The ferry departure board gave no relevant information at all, just kept the ETD at the scheduled time and yet we were still waiting to board when it said we should have left. The Captain announced the reason for the delay once boarded. It shouldn't be that hard for P & O to find out about and inform customers of weather related delays.

"Excellent journey"
We were supposed to be on a later ferry but wanted to come back early There were no problems getting an earlier ferry but we had to pay a small charge The staff couldn’t have helped us enough and were extremely polite The boat arrived on time and all the staff were really polite On board ship the ferry was extremely clean with a lot of space and enough facilities to enjoy I’d recommend p&o ferries to everyone Excellent journey

"Communicating amendments to the ferry company providing the actual service was a problem"
I booked a flexi fare via Direct Ferries for my wife and myself, Dover-Calais-Dover. It became necessary to amend. Long waits on the phone to add my extra passengers. Confirmation received from Direct Ferries. Four days before departure I received an email "confirmation" from P&O naming my wife and myself but not the other passengers. I called Direct Ferries, long wait again, and was told that I should contact P&O myself if concerned. Thus we arrived at Dover and my additional passengers were queried but allowed on. Thus our anxiety was allayed but not due to assistance from Direct Ferries. Next time I may well book direct with the ferry company rather than via an agent, the price was not greatly different and we would have been dealing with only our principal service provider.

"Quick Trip"
I recently used P&O for a return trip across the channel. Both ships were in good order and both ferries left on time and arrived as scheduled. On board experience was fine and there was plenty of space. very happy with the trip.

"Summer holiday"
Great service from arriving at the port. Fairly quick process to check in and board. Had a dog which had to leave in the car whilst sailing but on returning to vehicle the staff were very friendly and had kept an eye on her for us. Everything ran on time. Only comment is that I feel they really need quicker and more speed focussed staff at the coffee/bar area - big queues and only two staff who didn’t seem to want to rush- the queue was there the whole duration of the crossing.

"Disgraceful"
Took over an hour to check in for no apparent reason. So missed ferry through no fault of our own. Hence overcrowded ferry. Confusion everywhere. No one seemed to have a clue what was going on. Terrible end to a wonderful holiday.

"Border Control Calais"
The whole trip was a nightmare, but to be fair not the fault of P&O We arrived at Calais at around 6.30pm for the 7.55pm ferry. At around 8.45pm we eventually made it to the British Border Control who were painfully slow, especially the line that we were in. When questioned why the process took so long the Border Control Officer retorted that it was their busiest weekend of the year. I told him I could appreciate this but they had known this all year and that it hadn’t suddenly been sprung on them that afternoon. I asked could they not have made contingency plans and opened more lanes but he responded that they were doing the best they could. (Clearly not good enough) we eventually caught the 9.55pm ferry which was then delayed by 25 minutes. Heaven only knows what the situation will be post Brexit!!!!!

"P&O No Good"
Pre booked 2 cars and 10 travellers for holiday to France On the way out was refused a table in the Braserie Restaurant, there were lots of free tables but no staff to serve you! On the way back a 2 hour 20 minute delay I suppose all you can say is we got there and back eventually Not good

"Very disappointing at the end of a very long drive"
We were booked on the 9.55pm P&O crossing from Calais to Dover on 31st August 2019. We had paid extra for access to the lounge on board We drove 9 hours+ to reach the port at 8.45pm. There, we found long, slow moving queues through UK passport control. Once through passport control, vehicles had to shuffle (with difficulty) into correct check-in lines for either P&O or DFDS Seaways. Again, these were very slow moving lines. By the time we reached the check in desk, the departure time for our ferry had been and gone. At the desk, there was no explanation or apology for the extreme delay. We were simply told that the earliest ferry we would be put on was the 11.35pm which was delayed to 11.50pm. We were also advised that there was no lounge facility on the ferry and that no refund would be possible on the ferry. No discount, voucher or apology was offered. I find it fairly appalling that, on a clear, calm, fair-weather day, P&O, the Port of Calais and the UK border force could not, between them, enable customers who had booked and paid for a crossing and arrived at the agreed time, to board that ferry. It is particularly disappointing that P&O could not offer some sort of recompense on the spot. The actual ferry experience was very poor with limited service in the snack bars, shop and restaurants leading to long queues (AGAIN!) and passengers forced to lay in corners and corridors because there appear to be fewer seats than are required when the car decks are full. The final weekend of the UK s summer holiday are always going to busy so there can't be any excuse for P&O, the Port of Calais and the Border Force not to have contingencies in place.

"Easy journey and helpful staff"
Wife and I had a pleasant journey on both ways. From check in to disembarking, all straightforward with no issues despite a short delay on the journey back The only part of the journey that was a let down is in fact the behaviour of inconsiderate passengers who were lying down and stretching themselves on seats and sofas to sleep, thus reducing the seats available for the more educated people.

"Not nearly as good s DFDS"
Very disappointed as we travelled over with DFDS and that was fine. On this P&O ferry, it smelled awful and the seats were dirty. Also a charge for WiFi. Smelled bad and I got charged £11 more for the exact same product in duty free than I paid with DFDS on the way out. Really poor.

"Journey home"
We have always found P&O ferries exemplary. However, our trip back from Calais to Dover last night was not what we have come to expect. The ferry was approximately 45 minutes late. We fully understand that this happens. But we specifically elected to travel with you on our holiday and not fly. In order to avoid hopeless administration, strikes, computer malfunctions and total chaos. My husband had the chicken curry and suffered severe food poisoning. We also overheard another passenger saying that she had just been very sick. Not ideal after a very long drive through France.i would welcome your response. Nicola Gray

"Great journeys with P&O"
We took two P&O Ferries journeys this week and both were efficiently run and were on time. A friend who hadn't travelled on ferries for years was really surprised how much they had changed. Spirit of Britain had some lovely sofas the teenagers enjoyed.

"Exactly what a ferry should do."
We arrived at Port 45 min before and 30 minutes later we were sat in the Lounge. Efficient, clean - didn't try the food but looked good. Same quick exit on way out. They're both busy ports but verything is signed well and friendly staff at all the right places to guide you through.
