Located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Phaluai is the largest island in the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park. This stunning island stands out for its commitment to eco-friendly living, running entirely on solar power. Visitors to Koh Phaluai can explore pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkelling, and lush tropical forests that cover most of the island. The island offers excellent hiking opportunities with trails leading to spectacular viewpoints overlooking the surrounding archipelago. Though less developed than other Thai islands, Koh Phaluai charms visitors with its authentic fishing villages and fresh seafood. The annual Songkran water festival in April brings extra vibrancy to the island, as does the Loy Krathong festival of lights in November. From Koh Phaluai, travellers can easily connect via ferry to Koh Samui, one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, as well as to the mainland port of Surat Thani.
Koh Samui, Thailand's second-largest island, offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and modern amenities. The island is known for its palm-fringed beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush mountainous rainforest. Visitors can explore the iconic 12-metre tall Big Buddha statue at Wat Phra Yai or visit the stunning Na Muang waterfalls. Chaweng Beach attracts tourists with its vibrant nightlife and shopping, while Lamai Beach offers a more relaxed atmosphere. Every April, the island celebrates Songkran (Thai New Year) with water fights and traditional ceremonies, and in October, hosts the colourful Loy Krathong festival. Koh Samui is mainly accessible by ferry from the mainland port of Donsak. Once on the island, travellers can easily take boats to nearby destinations like Koh Phangan, famous for its Full Moon Parties, or Koh Tao, known for its excellent diving spots. The island serves as a great base for exploring Thailand's beautiful Gulf islands.
