Blu Navy

BN di Navigazione, or Blu Navy, is an Italian ferry operator connecting the towns of Piombino in Tuscany and Portoferraio on the island of Elba.

Originally offering just six daily departures when the company was founded in 2010, Blu Navy has steadily grown into an established brand in the Italian shipping industry, boasting an extensive timetable and a superb punctuality record.

Blu Navy currently uses a large vessel called ‘Acciarello’ which has a capacity of 1000 passengers and 230 vehicles, with the capability of loading and unloading in just thirty minutes. Measuring a hundred and thirteen metres long and eighteen metres wide, and with a cruising speed of sixteen knots, Acciarello is one of the most efficient passenger ferries in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The ferry underwent a complete makeover in 2015, with the focus on improving the comfort and entertainment on board. It now has luxurious seating areas and a top-quality bar serving delicious snacks and refreshments, as well as a newly designed garage, allowing customers to park their vehicles with ease. allows you to compare Blu Navy timetables and fares with all alternative ferry operators before deciding on the best option for your trip.

Blu Navy Customer Reviews

  • "Ferry crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio "

The whole process was very easy and uncomplicated. The ferry had cafe facilities on-board where you could get a coffee and a snack. I would certainly use this again.

  • "Direct Ferries company is thieves and crooks"

BlueNavi - great service and great company.  everything was done on time and with good quality.  But the Direct Ferries company is thieves and crooks.  188 Euros were stolen and not returned.  Very bad company.  NEVER use them to organize your trip.

  • "Quick return trip to Elba"

Journey over from the mainland to Elba was good, well managed and organised. The trip back was less so. The ferry was smaller and therefore, there was no space to get in and out of the car. Also, driver were getting very impatient and crew didn't organise the alighting the ferry very well.

  • "Super service"

So happy with our service from BluNavy. We were told where free parking was as well as help on Elba to reissue our ticket as our electronic one wouldn't scan. We had a fabulous sunset sail home. Couldn't have been better.
