The Cruise Roma and her sister ship the Cruise Barcelona are a totally new concept of ferry featuring the sort of facilities normally only found onboard a cruise ship. Apart from a huge choice of onboard cabin accommodation, there’s also a choice of restaurants and bars, a swimming pool, casino, wellness centre, videogames corner, dedicated children’s playroom and a Boutique.

"Civitavecchia to Barcelona on Cruise Roma"

Reviewed 19 April 2012 by Anonymous

The ferry departure was delayed by 3 hours as it arrived late in the port due to bad weather in Barcelona. Loading foot passengers and cars and cargos seemed to be disorganised and took a long time. The ferry itself is a lovely ship although looking a little tired in places. The most annoying part was that we had wanted to rest for an hour or so during the evening as we faced a long car journey on the other side but in the end we couldn't as we were suddenly asked to free our cabins 3 hours before arrival in Barcelona. This meant that hundreds of people and their luggage were draped all over the lounges and bars. There were several student groups on the ship so it was packed and noisy. The entertainment provided was a presenter trying to get people to do karaoke. Announcements could not always be heard and when we finally got to our car it was obvious that we could have got there earlier as some had already left. Some of the staff were pleasant and some not. We decided to have a meal in the restaurant and the service there was very good with good food although as expected not cheap.

"Great ship"

Beautiful trip to Barcelona in wonderful ship! I’m not used to taking a ferry over a long long duration because I normally suffer from sea sickness but after this experience I have changed my mind. The lounges are big, well-kept and clean and I didn’t have the impression of being on the sea but in a hotel. My boyfriend and I were very pleased!

"Fantastic trip"

I went a few days ago to Barcelona on the Cruise Roma with the school and the time on the ferry was fantastic, great fun. Was a really nice experience and without doubt, I would do it again. People working on board were really friendly, food very tasty and good entertainment. In fact, I took advantage of the SPA…very nice and relaxing! Was great and i'd love to go again!

"Marvellous ferry"

In my opinion this is a fantastic ferry! It deserves more than 3 1/2 stars, should be more like 4 1/2. Food was tasty, my cabin are very nice and spotlessly clean, there is a swimming pool, disco - it’s wonderful (I would recommend it)!

I went with my partner to Barcelona with this ferry and, I have to say, it’s exceptional. Excellent food, great spa, disco, casino, swimming pool and clean/nice cabins. It’s my favourite ship.
