Red Star Ferries

Red Star Ferries specialises in trans-national crossings from the port town of Brindisi in southern Italy to Vlora and Saranda in Albania, and a few Greek islands off the west coast, in the Ionian Sea.

Operating the shortest available route between Italy and Albania, from Brindisi to Vlora, Red Star Ferries can take you between the two nations in as little as four and a half hours aboard their flagship, Red Star 1. The company’s timetable also includes twice-weekly crossings from Italy to the Albanian town of Saranda, the unofficial capital of the Albanian Riviera, and the stunning Ionian archipelago of north-western Greece, including the islands Paxos, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, on a seasonal basis.

The Red Star Ferries fleet consists of large, well-equipped vessels, offering a range of cabins including luxury accommodation with sea views. Given their size, the ships have plenty of on-board entertainment in the form of cafes, bars, restaurants and lounge areas affording superb Mediterranean views.

Directferries.co.uk allows you to compare Red Star Ferries timetables and fares with all alternative ferry operators before deciding on the best option for your trip.

Red Star Ferries Customer Reviews

  • "Easy day trip to Brindisi"

Ferry left the port on time and arrived in Brindisi punctually. Comfortable seating, clean and tidy. Did not eat the food but bought two Peroni's for 5 Euro. Lek was not accepted. Wasn't impressed with disembarkation, Italian port staff were rude to passengers and there was not much communication between authorities and passengers. We were made to wait for an inordinately long time, women with small children and elderly passengers were not prioritised.

  • "Limited choices"

If you want to travel by ferry from the Greek island of Kefalonia to Italy without an additional trip to the mainland, your choices are limited, only 2 or 3 boats a week to Brindisi or Bari. Our boat, Red Star 1, is old and slow but did the job at a reasonable price. Our cabin was better than expected, clean and spacious enough. We arrived at our destination w/ only one hour delay after the 15 hours trip, not bad for high season. We didn't use the restaurant because we had dinner before boarding. The weather was good and the sea was calm. Not a bad trip, we probably use Red Star Ferries again next year.

  • "Above the aspectations"

Excellent experience, only bad thing the poor cleaning of the toilets (you could not breath) but this is also clients fault.

  • "Brindisi - Sami"

Internal cabins with no wc are small and hot, those with wc are more comfortable. Shared toilets are old and smelly the rest of the ship is clean, in conclusion is enough.
