Pescara Guide

The Italian city of Pescara is the capital city of the Province of Pescara, in the Abruzzo region of the country. It lies on the Adriatic Sea coast at the mouth of the Aterno-Pescara River. Perhaps the best way to explore the city is on foot. Start by taking a walk on Corso Umberto I which ends at Piazza Rinascita, best known as Piazza Salotto. Then via piazza Primo Maggio head towards the coast. Along the way you will see the Government Building and City Hall in Piazza Italia. The city's nightlife centre is on Corso Monthone which is the main street in the old part of the city. In the heart of the city also resides the Vittoria Colonna Museum of Modern Art and the birthplace of Gabriele D'Annunzio, which is one of the most popular attractions the city has to offer.

Located down the coast from Pescara are the towns and villages that make the entire region a hidden gem for many. Francavilla al Mare, Ortona, S. Vito Chietino and Vasto have the charms that would typically be associated with coastal villages. From small restaurants serving freshly caught fish to breathtaking views of the Adriatic, these towns have lots to offer.

From the port in Pescara there are ferries and hydrofoils to Split and Stari Grad in Croatia.
