Porto Vecchia Ferry Port |
| Porto Vecchia was founded by the Genoeses. In 1564, Sampiero Corso seized the city and entered into an alliance with the Barbary Coasts. The Genoeses called the Spanish for help, who in autumn that same year recaptured Porto Vecchia. Surpassed by its brilliant competitor - Bonifacio, it remained for a long time a stop over for the shepherds, and the place of salt and cork production. There are now regular sailings from Porto Vecchia to France and Sardinia. |
