  • "Very good ride "

We went within a week with three different ships of Viking Line and always have a well-equipped, clean ship found. The departure was always on time and the clearance problem and friendly. The quality of care on the ship was very good. Likewise, the seating very good. We can not give any information because we were traveling only as steerage passengers on the quality of the cars. But a quick look into exploring the ships also this give a good feeling.

Mariehamn Guide

Mariehamn is the capital of Aland which is an autonomous territory under Finish sovereignty. In common with the rest of Aland, Mariehamn is unilingually Swedish speaking with around 80% of its residents speaking it as their native language. Visitors to the town will find most of the shops and restaurants in the town located in the Torggatan pedestrian precinct in the centre of the town. The seat of power, the Sjalvstyrelsegarden, is also in the square and is made up of Aland's parliament and provincial government, the town hall and the government building. There is a statue of Tsarinna Marie Aleksandrovna, who gave her name to the town in 1861, located on the slope leading to the town. In the town there are a number of buildings designed by Finnish architect Lars Sonck, who moved to Aland as a child. Buildings of his include the church of Mariehamn, the main building of the Aland maritime College and the town hall, all built in the first half of the 20th century. Hilda Hongell also designed several buildings, although only a few remain standing.

Mariehamn is located on a peninsular and has two main harbours, one on the eastern shore and one on the western shore. Both harbours remain ice-free for nearly the whole year and both are non-tidal. The Western Harbour is an international harbour that has daily services to Sweden, Estonia and mainland Finland. The Eastern Harbour features one of the largest marinas in Scandinavia.

Kapellskar Guide

The Swedish town of Kapellskar lies on the Baltic Sea coast and is located roughly 90 km to the north of Stockholm. The town's port is the most northerly port in the Ports of Stockholm and is one of Sweden's largest roll-on roll-off ports and is an important gateway for passengers travelling to Finland, Russia, Norway and the Baltics.

Kapellskar is located in Norrtalje Municipality in the east central region of Sweden and is the largest and most northern municipality of Stockholm County and was created by the amalgamation of a number of former municipalities in 1971. Many of the region's houses are summer cottages, and due to its location on the Stockholm Archipelago it is popular with visitors, especially from Stockholm.

The port has a very short approach route making it very attractive for fast sailings and turnarounds to Finland, Estonia and Åland and is served by a regular passenger ferry service to Mariehamn, Naantall and Paldiski. Check-In closes 1 hour before departure.
