  • "Smooth crossing"

Only point to make was that if taxi driver hadnt dropped us off at the Bluestar ferries office in Kos in order to check in we wouldnt have known where to go. We would have gone straight to the dock which is a fair distance from where the office was. Ither than that we werent sure if you could just check in at the little ticket office at the dock. Dont think it says anywhere on the confirmation

  • "Piraeus - Syros"

Direct Ferries were efficient and helpful. Useful cancellation alert and rebooking service. Only issue are no alert for further cancellations and website travel alert tab doesn't have information on cancellations/alternative sailings for Greece. Blue Star Line and Blue Star 1 - Amazingly professional and smart as ever. Only issue, no cancellation/alternative sailings information on their website that I could find.

Katapola Guide

The village of Katapola is located on the Greek island of Amorgos, which is one of the Cyclades group of islands. Amorgos is the nearest Cycladic island to the neighbouring Dodecanese group of islands. The long and narrow village of Katapola only has a few streets, where visitors will see that many of the houses are just a stone's throw from the water's edge. Located a short distance from the village you will find a few tavernas, cafes and bars. This is the perfect location for a leisurely lunch and to take in the views on offer. The best beach closest to the village is Maltezi beach which is a fairly short walk from the village.

There are frequent ferry connections from Katapola to the port of Piraeus with a crossing time of between 7 - 9 hours on a conventional ferry, depending on itinerary, and 4 - 5 hours if a fast ferry is taken. The island also has ferry services to the rest of the Cyclades, the Dodecanese islands and with the island of Astypalaia.

Kos Guide

Kos is a Greek island that lies in the eastern Aegean Sea and is situated to the south of the island of Kalymnos and to the north of the island of Nisyros. The island, which is only around 3 miles off the Turkish coast and sits in the Keramiko Gulf, or the Kos Gulf, is the third largest of the Dodecanese islands. Kos is a well known and popular holiday destination where visitors go to enjoy the island's beaches. Kos was also one of the first Greek islands to recognise the benefits of tourism to its economy and as a result many hotels were built along the island's long and sandy coastline in the east and south. Cycling is a popular activity on Kos as the island's terrain is quite flat and because there are many bicycle hire outlets throughout the island along with some dedicated cycle paths between some of the larger hotels.

There are daily services between Kos and Piraeus along with services between Kos and the rest of the Dodecanese, the islands of the north eastern Aegean and Turkey. The trip by conventional ferry can take up to 13 hours, depending on the intermediate stopovers, and the trip with a high speed boat can take between 5 and 8 hours.
