Cheap ferries to Tenerife with directferries.co.uk

About Tenerife

Located around three hundred kilometres off the northwest coast of Africa, Tenerife is the largest and probably best known of the Spanish Canary Island group.

Though there are just under a million permanent residents, Tenerife attracts up to four million visitors annually, no doubt tempted by the seventy kilometres of beaches and virtual guarantee of Sunshine at any time of year.

The hotter and drier south side of Tenerife has the popular resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos and as a result is more touristy. Tenerife’s lush green north side is more relaxed and tends to be favoured by more mature visitors.

Tenerife is a hub for travel around the canary islands and features two airports, two ferry ports, a direct ferry crossing to mainland Spain and numerous inter island connections.

If you are heading to Tenerife from mainland Europe then there’s a choice of sailings from south western Spain. The crossings are pretty long and tend to be quiet expensive but are operated by luxurious modern ferries so the trip is relatively enjoyable and good value for money.

In terms of inter-island travel, you can get a ferry to Tenerife from any of the Canary Islands with the most regular crossings departing from La Palma and Gran Canaria.

Ferries arriving from the west generally dock at Los Cristianos port in the south of the island whilst ferries arriving from the east and mainland Spain tend to arrive at Santa Cruz de Tenerife port on the north side of the island.
